April 16, 2023 • Pastor Kevin Timmons • Genesis 3:17–19, Genesis 2:4–9, Genesis 2:15–17
This Sunday we are beginning a new series exploring the intersection of the Christian faith and the things we experience every day. The first sermon in this series will look at something we spend most of our waking hours doing: work. The redemptive story arc of Scripture answers many of the questions we have about work. What was God's original intention for work? Why is work so frustrating now? And is there any redemptive hope for our work in the future?
Part 2 | Faith and Authority
April 23, 2023 • Pastor Marty Scales • Matthew 8:1, Matthew 8:5–13
"I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith." Jesus said this massively affirming thing about a Gentile; a Centurion soldier who believed Jesus could heal his servant from afar by just commanding it. This Centurion knows and understands authority; he is under the authority of others and commands authority over his soldiers. Likewise, he believes something about Jesus that few others understood. He believes Jesus, the object of his faith, has the authority to command anything in heaven and earth.
Part 3 | Faith and Leisure
April 30, 2023 • Pastor Kevin Timmons • Exodus 20:8–11
"Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work..."God created work good. But work is not everything. We were also meant to stop working periodically and make space for leisure. During this break from work we are free to do things that bring rest to our souls. Take a nap. Play a game. Enjoy nature. But so often we struggle to protect time for leisure. And even when we do, we may find that our hearts are still working. Where can we find true rest? Where is the intersection of our faith with leisure?
Part 4 | Faith and Mental Health
May 7, 2023 • Pastor Travis Marsh • Romans 12:1–3
The escalating issue of mental health is a critical challenge facing our community. As we entered the pandemic, it was reported that 1 in 5 individuals grappled with mental health issues in various forms. It is vital for the church to acknowledge this pervasive problem and understand the role of the gospel in guiding us toward a mentally healthy community, while at the same time discovering genuine hope through the redemptive work of the cross.
Part 5 | Faith and Hospitality
May 14, 2023 • Pastor Travis Marsh • Hebrews 13:1–16
Hospitality plays a crucial role in the Christian faith, as it mirrors the love and care God has for His people. This practice involves opening your heart and home to show kindness, generosity, and compassion to others. Additionally, it includes graciously receiving and accepting hospitality from others. We invite you to join us this coming Sunday as continue in our series looking into real-life situations and how they influence our walk with Jesus.
Part 6 | Faith and Music
May 21, 2023 • Zakk Uhler
Faith and Music. Music is a wonderful gift of God to His creation. It is powerful and moving, it can stir up many different memories, moods, and affections. What role does music play in the life of a Christ follower? In worship? This is what we will be looking into this week in our sermon series.
Part 7 | Faith and Technology
May 28, 2023 • Pastor Travis Marsh • Acts 2:1–13
God has given us the gift to create. Technology is the product of that gift. It is the iPhone in your pocket to the mixer on your kitchen counter. Technology is all around us. It is a part of everyday life. Join us this Sunday as we explore how God guides our use of technology and how it can help us glorify and enjoy him forever.
Part 8 | Faith and Money
June 4, 2023 • Pastor Travis Marsh • Mark 10:17–31
In Christianity, money stirs up the deepest sensitivities. Throughout his ministry, Jesus actively weaved together the threads of our financial state and our spiritual being. This Sunday, we consider a challenging exchange between Jesus and a wealthy young man, torn between his desire to please God and his struggle with wealth. Join us in the conclusion of our sermon series, as we wrestle with the topic of Faith and Money.
