There are many hyphenated compound words that begin with "Self" and add an adjective (like self-centered or self-aggrandizing) or add a noun (like self-indulgence or self-promotion). The four examples used here as well as many other "Self" compound words are addressed by our verse from Proverbs today: "nor is it glorious to seek one's own glory."
