For many the Heart emoji is the symbol of loving something or someone. Being “in love” is a phrase we use for the romantic sentiments of elation, euphoria and bliss, which sponsor spontaneous demonstrations of devotion and adoration. Interestingly the Valentine’s Heart, so well known in our culture, is not the Christian symbol for love. The Christian symbol for the highest kind of love is the cross of Jesus Christ. How do we love our spouses and our friends with this kind of love? The Bible provides a long list of characteristics of loving in this distinctly Christian fashion. We can do this!

Part 5 | The Work of Marriage

It is difficult to love one another genuinely although this is the call not only for our marriages but all relationships in life. It is difficult because sin gets in the way of our relationships and cause us to hurt one another in a variety of ways. Join us this Sunday as we look to Ephesians 4:17-32 seeking to understand how we can love genuinely while working through the difficult issues that come as we have conflict.

God has designed marriage to work in a complementarian fashion. The two become one and add great benefit to one another through serving one another. This is the riskiest part of marriage because it involves trust and respect for one another. It also requires submitting to one another.
