The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 We don't have to live in fear of C19 - respect and precaution of course, but fear, never! God is for us and will sustain us. Please pray for our nation and all affected.

We all will be confronted with difficult decisions. Sometimes the right choice seems a lot more difficult than the wrong one. Hoping to avoid pain and hardship, we can be tempted to make a wrong choice. It's been said, "God wouldn't have allowed it if he didn't have a purpose. Don't just go through it - grow through it!" In our text today, Paul gives some last words of encouragement to the Ephesian Elders before departing for Jerusalem. On the contrary here are some famous last words of people about to do something foolish: I can beat the light!!! I wonder if it's loaded???? The firecracker must have gone out; I will light it again! What will your last words be? What will you be remembered for most? Let's work on influencing others by words and deeds. Pastor Ken

Sleeping can be hazardous to your health - medically and financially. Advances in phone security can leave us vulnerable. There was a six-year old little girl one Christmas season who used her mother's phone while she was sleeping. The little girl pressed her mom's thumb on her phone, unlocked it, and ordered over $300 of toys on Amazon. Obviously, natural sleep is not as hazardous as being asleep spiritually. It's time to wake up! "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." (Ephesians 5:14) Pastor Ken

Have you noticed how pervasive the "organic" movement has become? No artificial anything - no hormones, no antibiotics, or chemicals. 100% organic. It speaks to the desire that we all have to have the real thing - no imitations. People want to see some "organic" Christianity as well - nothing artificial. Bill Hybels said, "Authentic Christianity is a supernatural walk with a living, dynamic, communicating God." That kind of Christianity will change our world! Pastor Ken

Acts 19:1-12

What is essential to you? When I think of what’s essential for Thanksgiving - I think of turkey. For Christmas, I think of a Christmas tree and presents. When I think of what is essential for following Christ - 2 things emerge in my thoughts; the word of God and the Spirit of God. Did you receive the Spirit of God when you believed? (Acts 19:2). Seeking to obey God apart from the power of the Spirit is like trying to sail without wind or drive a car without gas. He is essential to a Christ glorifying life. Pastor Ken

When Billy Sunday was converted and joined the church, a Christian man put his arm on the young man’s shoulder and said, “William, there are three simple rules I can give to you, and if you will hold to them you will never write “backslider” after your name. “Take 15 minutes each day to listen to God talking to you; take 15 minutes each day to talk to God; take 15 minutes each day to talk to others about God.” What was true for Billy Sunday is true for us today. Acts 18: 18-23

Paul was the apostle of grace who took a vow - an apparent contradiction. But, Paul would say, "To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law." (1 Corinthians 9:20). He would contextualize his life so that he might share the gospel with others. How might you do that this week? Pastor Ken

We all have dreams and goals that we want to realize and accomplish. But, we have a tendency to give up when things begin to turn or we encounter difficulty. Thomas Edison said, "Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time." Paul the Apostle told us to "Press towards the mark of the high calling of God in Christ." Press on, don't give up and you will succeed. Pastor Ken

Paul the Apostle was grieved by all that he saw in Athens, but his grief did not lead him to curse the darkness. He was prompted to connect with the people and share the gospel with them. He even quoted their own poets to make his point and call them to repentance saying, "He (God) has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man (Jesus) who he has appointed." (Acts 17:31) Let's allow our disappointments with our world prompt us to share the gospel with others. Pastor Ken

In Edgar Allen Poe’s The Telltale Heart, a murderer thinks he is hearing the sound of his victim’s beating heart hidden beneath the floorboards of his home. He was actually hearing his own heart because of the guilt of his actions and it lead to his capture. In Genesis 42 Joseph’s brothers are confronted with their crime against Joseph. Will their guilt lead to repentance? How will they respond? How do you respond to guilt in your own life? Pastor Stephen

Every journey has a lot of steps from preparation to the actual journey. Any successful trip requires planning and preparation. The wise men journeyed to Jerusalem with intention - "Where is he who is born king of the Jews . . . for we have come to worship him." (Matthew 2:2). They were seeking the Lord - do you in your life? Are you intentional about your relationship with Christ? Make 2020 different. "Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near." (Isaiah 55:6) Pastor Ken

Peter tells us to be ready to give anyone an answer for the reason of hope that we have within us. (1 Peter 3:15). Beloved, I believe that our faith can stand up to scrutiny. Many have sought to disprove the gospels only to come to the conclusion that they are true and Christ is the Savior. I am convinced that honest doubts will always be answered and like Thomas, they will bow to the Savior and say, "My Lord and My God!" (John 20:28) Pastor Ken

Merry Christmas - John 1: 1-4

The possibility of God becoming a man seems remote to many. Why would God do such a thing? I like what Malcolm Muggeridge said, "As man alone, Jesus could not have saved us; as God alone, he would not. Incarnate, he could and did. "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us." (John 1:14) God in Christ makes redemption possible - Let's thank God for his wonderful gift in Jesus! Pastor Ken

Paul the Apostle spent just a few weeks with the believers in Thessalonica, but made a huge impact. Read the first letter to the church there! You will see a depth of commitment both theologically and practically. Paul commended their "work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Thessalonians 1:3) Would to God that we all impacted others with the gospel as the Apostle Paul did! Let's try this week to affect others with the love of Christ so they have faith, hope, and love too. Pastor Ken
