November 10, 2024 • Dr. Ken Lang • Hebrews 7:11–24
Remember the advertising slogan, "New and Improved?" The old product was good, but this is even better. God did that with Christ. Isaiah said, "Remember not the former things nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing." (Isaiah 43:18-19) Christ wants to do something new in you!
Is there anyone on my side? | 10-27-24 | Hebrews 7:1-10
October 27, 2024 • Dr. Ken Lang • Hebrews 7:1–10
Have you ever had someone in your life that you knew would have your back? No matter what happened, they would defend you. That is who Christ is! "But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." (1 John 2:2) . Christ will always be on your side.
What's your anchor? | 10-20-24 | Hebrews 6:13-20
October 20, 2024 • Dr. Ken Lang • Hebrews 6:13–20
It's been said that a person can live 40 days without food, 4 days without water, 4 minutes without air, but only 4 seconds without hope! Where is your hope? "Waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ!" (Titus 2:13)
What kind of fruit are you producing? | 10-13-24 | Hebrews 6:1-12
October 13, 2024 • Dr. Ken Lang • Hebrews 6:1–12
Imagine a garden left unattended? What kind of crops can you expect to harvest? To harvest fruits or vegetables requires care and effort. A garden left to itself will only produce a garden of weeds. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. (John 15:8)
What are you going to be when you grow up? | 9-29-24 | Hebrews 5:11-14
September 29, 2024 • Dr. Ken Lang • Hebrews 5:11–14
A group of tourists visiting a picturesque village walked by an old man sitting beside a fence. In a rather patronizing way, one tourist asked him, “Were any great men born in this village?” The old man replied, “Nope, only babies.”
We can't remain as a baby and become a person of influence - greatness requires growth in Christ.
Who's on your side? | 9-22-24 | Hebrews 5:1-10

If you had the opportunity of selecting your surgeon, who would you choose? The first one is a recent graduate with very little experience and the second one has 20 years of experience and a stellar record of successful procedures. The choice is obvious. So, when it comes to someone who has the answer to death, wouldn't you choose the person who rose from the dead? Christ is the victor over death!
In this political year, how can I best impact my world? | 8-25-24 | Hebrews 4:14-16
August 25, 2024 • Dr. Ken Lang • Hebrews 4:16
When Nehemiah was confronted with the fact that Jerusalem was in ruins, he prayed. He prayed a prayer of praise, repentance, confession, and petition. Our nation is heading in that direction; time for us to pray! "I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people." (1 Timothy 2:1)
Are you ignoring the most important thing?| 8-18-24 | Hebrews | 4:12-13
August 18, 2024 • Dr. Ken Lang • Hebrews 4:12–13
Our culture values education. In fact, we pressure our kids to go to college when some would be better served by vocational education. There is one thing that is absolutely essential though, an education in the Scriptures. President Teddy Roosevelt said, "A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education."
Are you tired? Do you need a break? | 8-11-24 | Hebrews 4:1-11
August 11, 2024 • Dr. Ken Lang • Hebrews 4:1–11
We live in a 24 - 7 world. Most have an overpacked schedule. Even Jesus needed a break. When Jesus felt overwhelmed he said to his disciples, "Come away for a while and rest." (Mark 6:31) Rest helps us to reorient and recharge so that we can be more productive otherwise. So, take five and thrive!
Are you going to finish? | 8-4-24 | Hebrews 3:7-16
August 4, 2024 • Dr. Ken Lang • Hebrews 3:7–16
Becoming a Navy Seal - special operations warrior - is a very difficult thing to do. Only about 25% of all those who enter the program finish. They are the elites of the elites. Paul said, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7) He crossed the finish line - will you?
Why? | 7-7-24 | Hebrews 2:5-18
July 7, 2024 • Dr. Ken Lang • Hebrews 2:5–18
Jesus said, "For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice." (John 18:37) God had a purpose in sending Christ, his Son, into the world, but wait, there's more!
Are you drifting? | 6-30-24 | Hebrews 2:1-4
June 30, 2024 • Dr. Ken Lang • Hebrews 2:1–4
Drifting - to be carried slowly and passively by a current of air or water. You don't get where you want and need to go by drifting. The Christian life calls for intentionality - you have to ask, seek, and knock to receive what God has for you (Matthew 7:7-11)
Do you want good, better or best? | 6-19-24 | Hebrews 1: 4-14
June 23, 2024 • Dr. Ken Lang • Hebrews 1:4–14
It's been said, "Any housewife knows that the best way to remember the things she meant to do and forgot is to start praying. They will come to her mind to divert her from prayer. Likewise, the devil will let a preacher prepare a sermon if it will keep him from preparing himself."
What's best? Praying or doing? Preparing a sermon or preparing a heart? Let's put first things first and the rest will take care of themselves.
Why is Jesus so Important? | 6-9-24 | Hebrews 1: 1-4
June 9, 2024 • Dr. Ken Lang • Hebrews 1:1–4
I’m not a big fan of preseason football. The teams are trying out new players, the games don't mean much, and I want to see the starters. We don't like the 2nd best - we want the 1st choice - Christ is not the 2nd team; as christians, we honor him as he said, "that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him." John 5:23
