Mark 14:1-11

It's been said, "Actions reveal our priorities." The woman in our text today revealed her love for Christ through her actions. in addition, she trusted his word and actually believed him when he said he would be crucified. Her priority was Christ and his word. "Living in the light of eternity changes your priorities!" The first commandment to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength is our first priority followed by loving our neighbor as ourselves. How have your priorities changed since you became a Christian? Pastor Ken

What comes to mind when I ask you to think of a dog? A cat? Or maybe a sports car? There's a picture in your mind isn't there? What if I ask you to think of a Christian? What or who comes to mind? What characteristics stand out? Gandhi said, "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." That's hard to read, but it is right in many ways. Christ-likeness must be the dominant characteristic of the Christian. Do others think of you when asked to think of a Christian? -Pastor Ken

One irrefutable fact about the ministry of Jesus is his resurrection from the dead. That is what makes him distinct from all other faith leaders. Buddha and Mohammed are buried and their tombs are still visited. Dr. Tim Keller said, "If Jesus rose from the dead, then you have to accept all that he said; if he didn’t rise from the dead, then why worry about any of what he said? The issue on which everything hangs is not whether or not you like his teaching but whether or not he rose from the dead." Pastor Ken

Mark 15:33-47

Imagine losing everything that you invested in with no hope of recovery. The disciples and the women who followed Jesus had all their eggs in one basket: the Kingdom of the Messiah. But, now he's dead; now what? The cross didn't kill Christ, but Jesus destroyed death in his death on the cross. We can look back and see God's love in the death of Jesus. "God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) Pastor Ken
