In Edgar Allen Poe’s The Telltale Heart, a murderer thinks he is hearing the sound of his victim’s beating heart hidden beneath the floorboards of his home. He was actually hearing his own heart because of the guilt of his actions and it lead to his capture. In Genesis 42 Joseph’s brothers are confronted with their crime against Joseph.
