"Simon came to Jerusalem with a religion. He left with a relationship! Talk about born-again experiences—he actually carried the cross of Jesus… You see, once you’ve accepted Jesus’ invitation to carry His cross, you’ll find it wasn’t heavy at all! Simon probably looked terrified when he picked up the cross at the point of a Roman spear; what do you think Jesus’ eyes said to him when he did? 'It’s OK, Simon. This cross is for you!'"

"This Palm Sunday story shows us who we really are in His eyes! Yes, he loves us all. But coming to Christ is a sacrifice. Death comes before resurrection. We are not OK. Like Jesus, we have to die. It has to hurt. We have to change. Fruit of obedience— being who/what we say we are—is the only piece of evidence that we really do belong to Jesus."
