"Discouragement is a killer! I know it’s tough to trust God when things don’t seem to be going well, but that’s what faith is for! We need faith the most when we are afraid; if we were never afraid, we’d never need faith. It pleases God the most when we obey Him in the most difficult times."

"Abraham was looking only for what God wanted. He set aside any personal ambitions in favor of God’s ambitions. Abraham was smart. He had an eternal perspective. He did not want to get ripped off by settling for less than everything God wanted to give him. That’s what too many of us do—because our faith is weak, we settle for way less than God wants for us. Abraham believed that God’s inheritance was far better than anything he might be able to accomplish on his own."

"(In this passage) Noah’s faith is mentioned for two reasons: 1st, he was saved by his faith (physically and spiritually) and 2nd, his faith spoke to an evil world of the coming judgment. When we serve God faithfully, our witness speaks to others of both salvation and judgment."

"I want to point out that all the men and women we are going to study through our tour of chapter 11 are recognized for their faith, but their mistakes are forgotten in eternity. That’s just the way God is. I love that He sees my faith and chooses to overlook my failures. Again, I point out that every man and woman we will study had many faults! Yet it is their faith which got God’s attention."
