Changing Things Up

September 11, 2022 • Dr. Nicholas Leadbeater • Exodus 19

Have you ever wondered how best to share your faith journey with other people? Have you ever felt overwhelmed with all you have to do in life? If you answer “yes” to either of these questions, then this message is for you. As we look at Exodus Chapter 18, we see Moses share his story with his father-in-law Jethro, leading him to faith in God. Then, Jethro speaks into Moses’ life, encouraging him to restructure the way that he does things by making some leadership decisions. We will see that by changing things up, we can fulfil our God-given purpose and can bless those around us along the way.

Lift Your Hands

September 4, 2022 • Dr. Nicholas Leadbeater • Exodus 17

In this message we look at Exodus Chapter 17 and see two confrontations. The first is internal. The Israelites turn on their leader Moses when they find themselves without water. The second is external. An army attacks Moses and the Israelites. In both cases, Moses does what he knows is best; he turns to God. As we study the passage, we discover some valuable life lessons – how to live in harmony with other people and how to grow in our faith by being in community with other believers – and it all starts by us lifting our hands to God.

Exodus 16

From Worship to Whining

August 21, 2022 • Dr. Nicholas Leadbeater • Exodus 15

As we study Chapter 15 of the Book of Exodus, we see that having been rescued by the parting of the Red Sea from the advancing Egyptian army, Moses and the Israelites worship God in song; the first song found in the Bible. But then as they continue their journey in the wilderness and find themselves without water. They start complaining and blame Moses and God. Overall, the trust of the Israelites in God’s providence for them is dependent on their circumstances and how they feel. We can end up being the same, our mood determining our faith. This passage teaches us about the heart of worship and also serves as a warning to us not to allow our mood to determine our faith in God’s provision in our lives.

Way Out

August 14, 2022 • Dr. Nicholas Leadbeater

Through Moses, God leads the Israelites to a place where they are trapped – they have mountainous terrain to the right and the left, the sea behind them, and the Egyptian army advancing towards them. What are they to do? In this message, we look at Exodus Chapter 13 and see the miraculous parting of the Red Sea – allowing the Israelites to escape from Pharoah and his army which then themselves get destroyed by the water. When the situation seemed impossible, God came through for the Israelites. He will do the same for us. In the heat of the trouble, when we see no way out, we need to remember that God is in control, and, however hard it might seem, we simply have to trust Him.

July 31, 2022 • Dr. Nicholas Leadbeater • Exodus 12:31–51, Acts 1:7–8

After 450 years of oppression and captivity, the Israelites are free at last. In this message, we look at the second half of Exodus Chapter 12. The Passover has just taken place and now the Israelites hurriedly leave Egypt. They are free, but the future is unknown. We look at how they are called to remember that God is sovereign and will guide them and direct them and will see the parallels in our lives as we go into the unknown, but have the Holy Spirit as our advocate.

If you've ever felt passed over in life–the Passover is for you! We'll dig into Exodus 12 and see how God uses those passed over moments in our lives to reveal more of Himself and Jesus to us.

Just Promised

July 17, 2022 • Dr. Nicholas Leadbeater

We all want to see justice prevail, but what does that really mean? In this message, we look at Exodus Chapter 11. It is the prequel to the tenth and final plague that will hit Egypt; a plague like no other in terms of its intensity. God tells Pharaoh through Moses that He will kill the firstborn of every Egyptian person and animal. We will see why God makes this proclamation, and how it actually shows that God is a just and loving God.
