We are bombarded by so much information in our world today, aren’t we? The internet, social media, and television mean we can learn so much information that can be useful or useless. Even good information is useless if we don’t apply it in some way. In today’s message, Pastor Dan will teach about Paul’s sermon to the people of Athens, and the people of Athens loved hearing new knowledge, but didn’t really do anything with it. Don’t be like them, seek after God’s truth and apply it to your life.

“I get plenty of Bible study in. I listen to my Pastor at church and I watch lots of teachers on social media. That’s all I need.” Some Christians get fooled into thinking that’s all they need to deepen their faith in Christ. In today’s message, Pastor Dan will challenge you to take your spiritual development into your own hands. Pastors are imperfect humans, so don’t depend solely on their teaching. You should check what they're saying against what the Bible says. The Bible doesn’t make mistakes.

“Why would I need to read the Old Testament scriptures? All I need is to read about Jesus.” There are some who get caught in that temptation. They think the Old Testament doesn’t really apply to them, because Jesus came to abolish the old things, right? Wrong. In his message today, Pastor Dan will teach that Jesus didn’t come to abolish the old teachings but to fulfill them. Don’t neglect to read the Old Testament. You’ll find so much in there that points to Jesus and makes your faith deeper.

Has God ever used tragedy or difficult circumstances in your life to draw you closer to Him? He seems to work that way often. In today’s message, Pastor Dan will teach about how Paul and Silas’ jailor was ready to take his own life, and God used that situation to save the jailor’s life. When you’re thrown out of your normal routine, and you can’t seem to handle getting through each day, that’s when you have to depend on God. If you’re going through a dark time, turn to God. He is the light.

“I don’t feel like singing today.” Have you ever heard that? Have you ever said that? Culture would tell you to follow your feelings, but that’s not true. When Paul and Silas were thrown into prison, they sang and worshiped God. Do you think they felt like singing? In his message today, Pastor Dan will challenge you to choose to worship even when you don’t feel like it. You’re not a slave to your feelings. You can choose to be obedient to God’s calling. Worship is not about you, it is about praising God.

There are many things in this world that can lead us astray. We are desperate for wisdom, direction, and answers for our lives. Needing these things, people look to anything they can get their hands on. In today’s message, Pastor Dan will warn you to be careful and steer clear of things like astrology and fortune-telling. You don’t have to use those things. You have the Word of God. You have the Holy Spirit. He will guide you. He will provide any answers you need. Just ask and seek God’s wisdom and direction.

In the church world, sometimes we can get sidetracked in wanting to see tangible results, can’t we? We want to see more people coming to church, more people coming to events, and more people being saved. However, God can work wonders through what we think are small results. In his message today, Pastor Dan will remind you that one person being saved can have great results. Don’t worry about the numbers in your ministry. Focus on people growing in faith, and let God do wonders.

Have you ever had a great idea to serve God, but it just seemed like you were coming up against roadblocks? You keep trying and trying, but doors seem to be closing. That may be because God is closing those doors. In today’s message, Pastor Dan will explain that a closed door could be God sending you a message. God speaks in many ways, and if He wants you to share your faith with your neighbor or start a new ministry, He’ll open that door. However, if He closes the door, don’t try to force it open.

Sometimes we can get ahead of what God wants for us, can’t we? We see some good that needs to be done, and we think we should do it. However, just because something is a good plan, doesn’t mean we’re meant to do it. In his message today, Pastor Dan will remind you to listen to the Holy Spirit. Are you busy doing good things that God doesn’t want you to do? Maybe you’ve got your life overfilled carrying out your own plans, but God has a greater plan in store for you if you would stop and listen.

Far too often we try to maintain a self-serving approach to life as we follow Jesus. Instead of the mindset of, “What can I get away with and still maintain good standing with God…” we should desire to live a life that expresses deep gratitude for the love and grace He’s given. As Pastor Dan will remind us today, God’s forgiven us of so much, and to try to find exceptions or loopholes in His law and design is an insult to His grace and we’ll severely miss out on His greater purpose for our lives.

Ministry has to be super uncomfortable and challenging right? God does often call us into situations that challenge us – that’s true – but ministry can happen in your everyday exchanges with the people in your life. As Pastor Dan will encourage us in today’s message, you can minister to others simply by checking in on them. This may be as simple as asking how they’re doing, and if you really listen to their answers, it can evolve into a much deeper conversation that feeds both of your souls.

All it takes is faith. What you do can’t save you. Who you are, or who your parents are means nothing in the Kingdom of God. As Pastor Dan continues our study of the book of Acts in today’s message we’ll be reminded of this core truth. There are many different denominations and factions within the Church, most with just slight variations in doctrine. As long as we agree on the core truth of who Jesus is and allow Him to guide us, we can find unity and work through our disagreements with love and grace.

At its foundation, the Church is built on Jesus Christ. The belief that we’re sinful and need saving from the destruction of sin, along with the belief that Jesus is the Son of God and He died on the cross for our sin, freeing us from its oppression and destruction, is central to who we are as Christians. As Pastor Dan will encourage us in today’s message, it’s important that we don’t compromise on core doctrines, but in all things, we can approach disagreements with the grace we’ve been given.

You might hear that statement from Pastor Dan and recoil with the thought that you would never act that way… But, for most of us, we easily slide into a similar legalism with our faith. If someone came into our church wearing that particular outfit, or we saw their car parked at a certain type of establishment or heard them talking about the show they watched last night, we might make some judgments that aren’t ours to make. We just tend to be more subtle about our legalism.

The Bible says that everyone knows there’s a God, but not everyone believes. Today, Pastor Dan says that the complex things around us can show us that God’s real. Many things are unexplainable and that’s on purpose. It’s to show us that God’s greater than us. He’s a God who is powerful and graceful, loving and caring, while also being a judge. When you see a flower, think of how complex it is. Be in awe of what God has done and what He can do through you. He loves you and has plans for you.
