Pastor Jeremy and his wife, Brooke, have been married since September 24, 1999 and are blessed with three incredible sons. God brought them together with a common goal, get the “Good News” of Jesus Christ out to as many people as possible.
March 1995: Pastor Jeremy began serving in full time ministry at Calvary Chapel Tri City in Tempe, Arizona (March of 1995 – July of 2009). Jeremy began as the Youth Pastor for the High School Youth Ministry and served in that capacity for 7 years. Eventually he was asked to take on the roll of Associate Pastor and spent the next 8 years serving the flock as the Lord led and allowed. As the Associate Pastor, Jeremy headed up the Men’s Ministry and Young Adults Ministry as well as being responsible for marital and pre marital counseling for the church body. Jeremy was also the Church Administrator for 12 of the 15 years he was at Calvary Chapel Tri City, overseeing the day to day business of the Church.
After being on staff for few years at Calvary Chapel Tri City Jeremy enrolled in the School of Ministry offered there, completing the requirements in 2007. He went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies degree from the Maranatha International Bible College which was an extension campus of the CCBC in Murrieta, California.
In addition to his time spent in full time ministry, Jeremy has assisted countless Churches in planning and executing Biblical tours of the Holy Land (from 1998 to present). Jeremy has personally traveled to Israel 17 times (in both Mission and Tour capacities). He has also been involved in various other Mission field operations in Mexico, Honduras and Europe as well.
January 2006: Jeremy, and his wife Brooke, began to feel called of The Lord to go out and plant a new Church. They immediately began praying for The Lord to lead them to the fields that needed tilling.
January 2009: Jeremy and Brooke traveled to Cedar Rapids for the very first time where God made it clear they were called to plant a new work for Him.
July 2009: The Higgins family moved to Cedar Rapids.
August 2009: The very first worship service of Calvary Community Church was held, and the body has been growing ever since.
September 2009: Jeremy & Brooke celebrate 10 years of marriage, praise the Lord!
October 2009: Calvary Christian Preschool & Daycare is added to the ministry of Calvary Community Church. We have an amazing staff that loves caring for the children in our program and helps them to learn more about the Love of God every day. (www.CalvaryChristianPreschool.com)
October 2014: Calvary Community Church launches a brand new ministry FM Radio station in our Community, KEWR-LP - Enduring Word Radio on 97.5fm. Shortly thereafter we acquired an FM Translator and began re-broadcasting the KEWR-LP signal on 105.1FM covering a much larger area in our Community. (www.EnduringWordRadio.com)
March 2017: Calvary Community Church goes from 1 service every Sunday to 2 services every Sunday.
September 2019: Jeremy & Brooke celebrate 20 years of marriage, praise the Lord!
June 2020: Jeremy & Brooke begin to pray intentionally for the Lord to use them, and the Church as a whole, to open a new Christian School in Cedar Rapids.
September 2023: After several years of FCC filings, Enduring Word Radio acquires a new Fm broadcast frequency, 89.9FM and a new FM NCE (Non Commercial Educational) license. This new frequency and license expand our coverage from roughly 300 square miles to roughly 900 square miles.
September 2023: Jeremy & Brooke tour a property for sale that would be ideal for a new Christian School.
November 2023: Calvary Community Church closes on its new property at (5245 Northland Ave NE Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52302) and immediately start planning the launch of Calvary Christian Academy.
April 2024: Calvary Christian Academy receives its Candidacy Accreditation from Christian Schools International (CSI) and officially appears on the State Of Iowa non-public school registry. (www.CalvaryAcademy-CR.com)
May 2023: Calvary Community Church holds our first set of worship services in our new property.
August 2023: Calvary Community Church celebrates 15 years of faithful service to the Community of Cedar Rapids.
August 2023: Calvary Christian Academy’s first day of school.
September 2024: Jeremy & Brooke celebrate 25 years of marriage, praise the Lord!
