Last week we talked about what we as believers in Christ are to put off in our lives. This week we'll begin to talk about what we should be putting on in our lives. We must remember we cannot possibly do these things without the work of the Spirit in us. We are to put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness and long suffering. Above all these things we must put on love. Last week Paul said don't be deceived, don't be cheated by the empty philosophies of this world. The believers in Colosse after hearing this may have asked what then should our lives be focused on and how should we live our lives? Paul sought to answer that by first telling them to get their eyes on their eternity. Then he gave several things that we as believers should put to death in our lives...how do we do that? By the power of God's Spirit at work in our lives and this week we'll discuss why we can overcome our sinful nature in Christ. Colossians 2:1-23 "All You Need Is Jesus"

Today we'll see that Paul had a great concern for the churches in Colosse and the surrounding area. His concern was that others would come and begin to cheat them through empty thoughts and philosophies. Paul will say that all of the fullness of God is found in Jesus so why would you or I or anyone else need anything but Jesus? He'll then go on to give a few examples of empty teachings that the world around them would teach and say. Colossians 1:1-14 "Paul and Timothy Pray"

This week we'll start a new study in the book of Colossians. We'll take a look at a small introduction and then hop into the text as we see Paul and Timothy's hearts for this church that Paul at least had never visited. Written from prison this book of the bible gives us much to think about in regards to our eternal destination.
