Salvation from the Power of Sin

September 14, 2022 • Steve Austin • Ephesians 5:6–8

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these (sinful) things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. (Ephesians 5:6-8)

In Part 1 of our two part Biblical study, I Wish We'd All Been Ready," we saw how God, in His love for all mankind, has made it possible for everyone to experience "Salvation from the Penalty of Sin," especially the coming judgment on our sinful world. Incredibly, many of the supernatural benefits of God's love are available immediately to anyone who, by faith, moves from the darkness "in sin" to the light "in Christ." Unfortunately, even though our eternal souls are sealed forever in the salvation of Christ's sinless perfection, it is possible for our "fickled flesh" to draw us back practically into the darkness of sin. Not only does this rob us of the peace and joy that God wants us to experience today, even worse, we are hiding our light and actually becoming examples of darkness the enemy can use to discredit our Savior. As ambassadors for Christ, this should never be. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. But how can we do that - consistently? Come Wednesday and learn how to experience God's "Salvation from the Power of Sin!"
