Tonight we gather to commemorate the evening that Jesus laid down His life for us all. He was betrayed, beaten, spat upon, scourged, mocked and shamed. In the Garden of Gethsemane He was betrayed with a kiss... by one of His own, Judas.

He is despised and rejected by men,

A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.

And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;

He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

Surely He has borne our griefs

And carried our sorrows;

Yet we esteemed Him stricken,

Smitten by God, and afflicted.

But He was wounded for our transgressions,

He was bruised for our iniquities;

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,

And by His stripes we are healed.

Isaiah 53:3-5

May your hearts be filled with love, passion and joy, that He has sacrificed all to make a way for us to draw close to God, and become one of His own!

The writers of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) each tell a their detailed account of what happened next. We encourage you to read them! What is the significance of the empty tomb? He was dead, buried and then rose again... He is Risen!! "But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." Matthew 28:5-6 "But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him."
