2 Corinthians Chapter 6 Verse 1
• Two things here that are incredibly important to see (three). First, Paul says that we are workers together “with Him!” What a wonderfully right perspective to have in ministry. I’m not sure many have this same perspective and same heart today. But Paul does. He ended the last chapter with statements around the ministry of reconciliation. That through Jesus, folks no matter their short-comings, history, differences and delinquencies…in Christ they are a new creation! God is doing something in them and that something is grace, love, mercy and forgiveness….
• And Paul, and you, and I and us…we have that ministry for people too. We work with Him. Look, it’s not that He works with us! It’s the other way around. We need to see things like He sees things…do things the way He wants them done…it is a blessing to think and have this perspective that we work right alongside Jesus Christ on this earth but many forget, we work alongside Him, not primarily the other way around!
• It’s not that God needs Paul or needs us…we need Him! Even the fact that we work alongside Him…it’s for our good, not Gods! I think about when Link asks me if I want his help when I’m wrenching on the car or fixing something around the house. SURE DON’T! HA! But most of the time when he asks, “Sure do, buddy! Come on over here and help me out.” Is he helping me out? NO WAY! HA! And this is precisely the privilege of ministry…but some have gotten this twisted, thinking God is privileged to have THEM working for Him! Wrong!
• At any rate though, as Christians, in some capacity, way or form, we are to be active! Workers! Matthew 25:23 says, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” How do you “receive the grace of God in vain?” Be a taker, a recipient, a benefactor of God’s goodness, His favor, His love, His wisdom, His capacity and purpose and calling, take upon your heart the salvation of Jesus Christ…and yet hinder the work of grace in your life.
• Paul, back in 1 Corinthians Chapter 15:10 said, “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” To keep something in vain is to keep it for yourself. God has given His love, grace and mercy and so much more to you and to I and it’s too much for us…we need to share it…if we don’t then we harden, we bloat, we spoil…a bunch of brats in the family of God…living for self is the smallest life one can live and therefore working, active, supporting the cause of Christ in the lives of others…that is how to avoid trampling the grace of God in vain.
• And listen, walking in the grace of God as God would have me to do is such a key to activating what God has intended my life to be…reaching my own potential of not only purpose and satisfaction personally but also depth of character, the gentleness of hope and the joy of wisdom…all of that is activated and supported and hinged upon the proper handling and application and appreciation of God’s grace!
2 Corinthians Chapter 6 Verse 2
• Now is the acceptable time…there is no better time and never will be a better time for you to give your all to Jesus Christ. Or for you to come to Him for salvation in the first place, if you have not. And yet who is it that typically messages that now is not the right time? Christians. How? By not being Christ followers. Jesus has died for their sin while we condemn their sin. Total opposite. We message that because we are saved, we are somehow better than them, smarter, superior…and our arrogance tells them, “Now is not your time…still work to do.” Now is the acceptable time…today is the day for forgiveness to flow, for grace to flood, for love to heal, for folks to be saved. Now is the time for us as Christians to put Jesus first and put them before us…that is the very definition of what it is to follow Christ.
• It wasn’t then and it isn’t now a time for any Christian to be self-consumed. Concerned for self, sure. Of course. Every person has concern for themselves… Ephesians 5:29 says, “For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourished and cherishes it…,” but we aren’t like “no one ever!” We are to be different…the Christian sets that aside, sees through the fog of self-centeredness, and is mindful of the well-being and state of their fellow man. No matter stranger or spouse.
• Paul quotes Isaiah 49 and puts a call out there to the church in Corinth and to us…that today is the day for salvation to flow not only to you, but through you…we work with Him (not the other way around)!
2 Corinthians Chapter 6 Verse 3
• This is a key to ministry and certainly one to Paul’s. He is inviting the Corinthian church to give an honest and thorough judgement of his ministry rather than listening to what others say about it. I mean this is just Jesus-following Bible-believing Christianity 101 and man how I dork this up far too much! It’s not that he gives no offense in ministry…but that he and those who are with him give no offense in ANYTHING!
• But folks are SO easily offended! I know! I get it! But understand, this doesn’t command us to never have an occasion where someone is offended…its that we didn’t give it to them…its their problem! This is important, let me explain a bit more. The word for offense here is only used once in all of scripture and it literally means “to give an opportunity for sin.” People are going to sin…but man as a minister of God, a worker together with Jesus Christ, it should not be me that leads them there.
• James 1:15 says, “Sin brings forth death.” And John 6:63 says, “The flesh profits nothing,” (wasteful). So how, as an ambassador of Christ on this earth, because of my own offense, emotion, passions and lust, how is it that I can take someone to death and waste?! That simply makes no sense. Our single simple command, all that is asked of us by God is to love the Lord and to love others…to walk in love…that’s the whole of it. And Romans 13:10 says, “Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” And so, this is really ultra-elementary Christianity…to serve the Lord and to serve others…and most certainly to not give opportunity for sin. Paul invites that investigation and so should we… (This is by the way why the wise love rebuke in the spirit…because it casts down death and waste that he/she cannot see themselves…)
• Now look, in all of this…co-working with Jesus Christ, walking in the love and grace of God not in vain but in effectivity, not being self-consumed even though you may be in need and in distresses (as Paul often was), and giving no offense in anything…here is the confession of Paul’s pain…
2 Corinthians Chapter 6 Verses 4 – 5
• This is a small list of the things Paul has been through, that he has endured, in order to come to Corinth, begin that work of the Holy Spirit, love those people and even now to continue to serve them. And yet some, perhaps many, of them there in that church joked at his expense, placed themselves in a position of importance over him in arrogance, spoke against him, even attacked him. I admit that I have done the same to others as well in my life. But this is something that has wrecked me as I have learned about people in ministry. You never really know what someone has gone through.
• Paul has endured through much hardship and yet he shows up to serve the Lord and to serve them…how? Here are his resources…
2 Corinthians Chapter 6 Verses 6 – 8a
• First notice, by purity. Think of it like this…pureness or simplicity…singleness of mind. He is focused. Settled. Resolved. He is a son of the King. A minister of God. That’s simply what he is before anything else…and that resolve prepares him with power to face the perils of any day. By knowledge…to know the truth of what has happened, who he is, who Jesus is…what is to come… Jesus said in John 8:32, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Paul through resolve and understanding has become in his heart of hearts, even though the outward man is perishing…the inward man is being renewed…in his heart he is imperishable. Hosea 4:6 says, “My people perish for lack of knowledge.” Paul knows man…he has opened his heart as wide as possible to the truth of God and to the Person of the Holy Spirit and God has delivered to him wisdom.
• His other resources…kindness and longsuffering. The world may see these as weaknesses but in truth these are resources! That which if you choose them will renew your strength in time, not sap it! The Holy Spirit Himself! Sincere love, love without duplicity or expectation of reciprocity…but just gift love…strength love as I like to think of it! The Word of God, the power of God, the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left!
• This to me is a picture that reminds us of Nehemiah 4:15-17. When Israel had returned to the land and was rebuilding and yet enemies were all around. It says there in Nehemiah, “And it happened, when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and that God had brought their plot to nothing, that all of us returned to the wall, everyone to his work. So it was, from that time on, that half of my servants worked at construction, while the other half held the spears, the shields, the bows, and wore armor; and the leaders [b]were behind all the house of Judah. Those who built on the wall, and those who carried burdens, loaded themselves so that with one hand they worked at construction, and with the other held a weapon.”
• The armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left…the weapon in our right hand, the Word of God…preaching and making disciples…first making a disciple of our own hearts! And in the left hand we build…this is Paul’s reality. That he battles against principalities, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places by prayer, knowledge, resolve and discipline and he builds by making disciples…these are resources for him! Not work! As he does this…this is the renewing of the inner man!
• And so, what he has endured…his resources for that endurance…and now the result…
2 Corinthians Chapter 6 Verses 8b - 10
• One perspective is man’s; one perspective is God’s. This is the question that we all wrestle with day to day, that Paul wrestled with day to day, but ultimately makes the difference in the life of the believer. To man, in the perspective of this world, Paul is dishonored, but amongst the heavenly host…there is honor. Who knows that? Maybe not even Paul sometimes…because its hard to see past the pain…but it’s what is true.
• To the world, to man, Paul is a nobody…but to God, he is known. He is sorrowful, but in truth, his sorrow is the source of true rejoicing. He is poor, but in truth, he is spreading great wealth. He feels this way, looks this way, is thought of this way…that he has nothing…but in truth…he possesses all things. Which is true? Which is lasting? Which is more important? The way that man sees things…or the way that God sees them?
• The rhetorical question is an obvious conclusion but that doesn’t make it easy or even perhaps more-easy. Remember your resources…purity, knowledge, longsuffering, kindness, sincere love, the Word of God, the power of God, the armor of righteousness and the Holy Spirit Himself.
• 2 Chronicles 16:9, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.”
2 Corintios Capítulo 6 Versículo 1
· Dos cosas aquí que son increíblemente importantes para ver (tres). Primero, Pablo dice que somos trabajadores juntos "¡con Él!" Qué perspectiva maravillosamente correcta para tener en el ministerio. No estoy seguro de que muchos tengan esta misma perspectiva y el mismo corazón hoy en dia. Pero Pablo sí lo tiene. Terminó el último capítulo con declaraciones sobre el ministerio de reconciliación. Que a través de JesúCristo, amigos sin importar sus defectos, historia, diferencias y ofensas ... ¡en Cristo son una nueva creación! Dios está haciendo algo en ellos y ese algo es gracia, amor, misericordia y perdón ...
· Y Pablo, y tú, y yo y nosotros ... también tenemos ese ministerio para las personas. Trabajamos con Él. ¡Mira, no es que Él trabaje con nosotros! Es al revés. Necesitamos ver las cosas como Él ve las cosas ...y hacer las cosas como Él quiere que se hagan ... es una bendición pensar y tener esta vista de que trabajamos junto a Jesucristo en esta tierra, pero muchos olvidan: trabajamos junto a Él, ¡no principalmente al revés!
· No es que Dios necesite a Pablo ni a nosotros ... ¡lo necesitamos a Él! Incluso el hecho de que trabajemos junto a Él ... ¡es para nuestro bien, no para el bien de Dios! Pienso en cuando Lincoln me pregunta si quiero su ayuda cuando estoy arreglando el carro o arreglando algo en la casa. ¡SEGURO QUE NO! ¡JA! Pero la mayoría de las veces cuando me pregunta: “¡Claro que sí, mijo! Ven aquí y ayúdame.” ¿Me está ayudando? ¡DE NINGUNA MANERA! ¡JA! Y este es precisamente el privilegio del ministerio ... ¡pero algunos se han torcido así, pensando que Dios tiene el privilegio de que ELLOS trabajen para Él! ¡Incorrecto!
· Sin embargo, como cristianos, ¡de alguna manera o forma, debemos ser activos! Trabajadores! Mateo 25:23 dice: "¡Bien hecho, siervo bueno y fiel!" ¿Cómo “recibes la gracia de Dios en vano?" Sea un tomador, un recipiente, un benefactor del favor, el amor, la sabiduría, su capacidad y propósito y vocación de Dios, tome sobre su corazón la salvación de Jesucristo ... y sin embargo obstaculiza la obra de gracia en tu vida.
● Pablo, en 1 Corintios Capítulo 15:10 dijo: “Pero por la gracia de Dios soy lo que soy, y su gracia para mi no fue en vano; pero trabajé más abundantemente que todos, pero no yo, sino la gracia de Dios que estaba conmigo ”. Mantener algo en vano es conservarlo para ti mismo. Dios ha dado su amor, gracia y misericordia y mucho más para ti y para mí, y es demasiado para nosotros ... tenemos que compartirlo ... si no lo hacemos, nos endurecemos, nos hinchamos, echamos a perder ... un montón de mocosos en la familia de Dios ... vivir para uno mismo es la vida más pequeña que uno puede vivir y, por lo tanto trabajar, ser activo, apoyar la causa de Cristo en la vida de los demás ... así es como evitar pisotear la gracia de Dios en vano.
· Y escucha, caminar en la gracia de Dios como Dios quiere que haga es una llave para activar lo que Dios ha querido que sea mi vida ... alcanzar mi propio potencial no solo propósito y satisfacción personal, sino también profundidad del personaje, el mansedumbre de la esperanza y la alegría de la sabiduría ... todo eso se activa, apoya y depende del manejo adecuado, la aplicación y la apreciación de la gracia de Dios!
2 Corintios Capítulo 6 Versículo 2
· Ahora es el momento aceptable ... no hay mejor momento y nunca será un mejor momento para que le des todo a Jesucristo. O para que vengas a Él para salvación en primer lugar, si no lo has hecho. Y, sin embargo, ¿quién es el que normalmente envía mensajes de que ahora no es el momento adecuado? Cristianos ¿Cómo? Al no ser seguidores de Cristo. JesúCristo ha muerto por su pecado mientras nosotros condenamos su pecado. Totalmente opuesto. Les enviamos un mensaje de que porque somos salvos, de alguna manera somos mejores que ellos, más inteligentes, superiores ... y nuestra arrogancia les dice: "Ahora no es tu momento ... todavía hay trabajo que hacer." Ahora mismo es el momento aceptable ... hoy es el día para que fluya el perdón, para que la gracia inunde, para que el amor sane, para que la gente se salve. Ahora mismo es el momento para nosotros como cristianos de poner a JesuCristo primero y ponerlos a ellos ante nosotros ... esa es la definición misma de lo que es seguir a Cristo.
● No era y ahora no es el momento para que un cristiano sea autoconsumido. Preocupado por uno mismo, seguro. Por supuesto. Toda persona se preocupa por sí misma ... Efesios 5:29 dice: "Porque nadie odiaba su propia carne, sino que la alimentaba y la apreciaba ...", pero no somos como "¡nadie jamás!" Debemos ser diferentes ... el cristiano deja eso de lado, ve a través de la niebla del egocentrismo y es consciente del bienestar y el estado de sus semejantes. No importa si sea extrañjero o esposo.
· Pablo cita a Isaías 49 y llama a la iglesia en Corinto y a nosotros ... que hoy es el día para que la salvación fluya no solo hacia ti, sino a través de ti ... ¡trabajamos con Él (no al revés)!
2 Corintios Capítulo 6 Versículo 3
· Esta es una llave para el ministerio y ciertamente una para la de Pablo. Él está invitando a la iglesia de Corinto a dar un juicio honesto y completo de su ministerio en lugar de escuchar lo que otros dicen al respecto. ¡Quiero decir que esto es simplemente el cristianismo 101 siguiendo a JesuCristo y creyendo en la Biblia pero qué pena cómo lo arruino con demasiada frecuencia! !No es que él no ofende en el ministerio ... ¡sino que él y aquellos que están con él no se ofenden en NADA!
· ¡Pero la gente se ofende TAN fácilmente! ¡Lo sé! ¡Lo entiendo! Pero comprenda, esto no nos ordena que nunca tengamos una ocasión en la que alguien se ofenda ... es que no se lo dimos ... ¡es problema de ellos! Esto es importante, déjame explicarte un poco más. La palabra ofensa aquí solo se usa una vez en toda la sagrada escritura y literalmente significa "dar una oportunidad para el pecado ". La gente va a pecar ... pero el hombre como ministro de Dios, un trabajador junto con Jesucristo, no debería ser yo quien los lleve allí.
● Santiago 1:15 dice: "El pecado produce muerte". Y Juan 6:63 dice: "La carne para nada aprovecha" (dispendioso). Entonces, ¿cómo, como embajador de Cristo en esta tierra, debido a mi propia ofensa, emoción, pasiones y lujuria, cómo es que puedo llevar a alguien a la muerte y al desperdicio? Eso simplemente no tiene sentido. Nuestra única orden simple, todo lo que Dios nos pide es amar al Señor y amar a los demás ... caminar en amor ... eso es todo. Y Romanos 13:10 dice: “El amor no hace daño al prójimo; Por lo tanto, el amor es el cumplimiento de la ley." Y así, esto es un realmente cristianismo ultra elemental ... servir al Señor y servir a los demás ... y ciertamente no dar oportunidad al pecado. Pablo invita a esa investigación y nosotros también deberíamos ... (Por cierto, a los sabios les gusta ser reprendido en el espíritu. ... porque arroja la muerte y el desperdicio que él / ella no puede verse a sí mismos ...)
· Ahora mira, en todo esto ... colaborando con Jesucristo, caminando en el amor y la gracia de Dios, no en vano, sino en la efectividad, no siendo autoconsumido a pesar de que puedas estar necesitado y angustiado (como Pablo a menudo era), y sin ofender en nada ... aquí está la confesión del dolor de Pablo ...
2 Corintios Capítulo 6 Versículos 4 - 5
· Esta es una pequeña lista de las cosas por las que Pablo ha pasado, que ha soportado, para venir a Corinto, comenzar esa obra del Espíritu Santo, amar a esas personas e incluso ahora continuar sirviéndolas. Y, sin embargo, algunos, tal vez muchos de ellos allí en esa iglesia bromearon a su costa, se colocaron en una posición de importancia sobre él en arrogancia, hablaron en su contra, incluso lo atacaron. Admito que también he hecho lo mismo con los demás en mi vida. Pero esto es algo que me ha destrozado cuando aprendí sobre personas en el ministerio. Nunca se sabe realmente por lo que alguien ha pasado.
· Pablo ha soportado muchas dificultades y, sin embargo, se presenta para servir al Señor y para servirles a ellos... ¿cómo? Aquí están sus recursos ...
2 Corintios Capítulo 6 Versículos 6 - 8a
· Primer note, por pureza. Piénsalo así ... pureza o simplicidad ... soltería mental. El esta enfocado. Colocado. Resuelto. Él es un hijo del Rey. Un ministro de Dios. Eso es simplemente lo que es antes que alguna otra cosa ... y esa resolución lo prepara con el poder para enfrentar los peligros de cualquier día. Por conocimiento ... para saber la verdad de lo que sucedió, quién es él, quién es Jesucristo ... lo que está por venir ... Jesús dijo en Juan 8:32: "Conocerás la verdad, y la verdad te hará libre". Pablo a través de la resolución y la comprensión se ha convertido en su corazón de corazones, a pesar de que el hombre exterior está pereciendo ... el hombre interior está siendo renovado ... en su corazón es imperecedero. Oseas 4: 6 dice: "Mi pueblo perece por falta de conocimiento". Pablo conoce al hombre ... ha abierto su corazón lo más posible a la verdad de Dios y a la Persona del Espíritu Santo y Dios le ha entregado la sabiduría.
· Sus otros recursos ... amabilidad y paciencia. ¡El mundo puede ver esto como debilidades pero en verdad son recursos! Lo que si los eliges renovará tu fuerza a tiempo, ¡no la agotarás! ¡El mismo Espíritu Santo! Amor sincero, amor sin duplicidad o expectativa de reciprocidad ... pero solo amor de regalo ... ¡amor de fuerza como me gusta pensar en ello! ¡La Palabra de Dios, el poder de Dios, la armadura de la justicia a la mano derecha y a la izquierda!
· Esto para mí es una imagen que nos recuerda a Nehemías 4: 15-17. Cuando Israel había regresado a la tierra y estaba reconstruyendo y, sin embargo, los enemigos estaban por todas partes. Dice allí en Nehemías: "Y sucedió, cuando nuestros enemigos escucharon que nos era conocido, y que Dios había traído su plan a la nada, que todos volvimos a la pared, todos a su trabajo. Entonces, desde ese momento, la mitad de mis sirvientes trabajaban en la construcción, mientras que la otra mitad sostenía las lanzas, los escudos, los arcos y vestían armaduras; y los líderes [b] estaban detrás de toda la casa de Judá. Los que construyeron en la pared, y los que llevaban cargas, se cargaron para que con una mano trabajaran en la construcción, y con la otra sostenían un arma ”.
· La armadura de la justicia en la mano derecha y en la izquierda ... el arma en nuestra mano derecha, la Palabra de Dios ... predicando y haciendo discípulos ... ¡primero haciendo discípulos de nuestros propios corazones! Y en la mano izquierda construimos ... esta es la realidad de Pablo. Que él lucha contra los principados, contra las huestes espirituales de maldad en los lugares celestiales mediante la oración, el conocimiento, la resolución y la disciplina y construye haciendo discípulos ... ¡estos son recursos para él! ¡No trabajo! Mientras hace esto ... ¡esta es la renovación del hombre interior!
● Y así, lo que ha soportado ... sus recursos para esa resistencia ... y ahora el resultado ...
2 Corintios Capítulo 6 Versículos 8b - 10
· Una perspectiva es la del hombre; Una perspectiva es la de Dios. Esta es la pregunta con la que todos luchamos día a día, con la que Pablo luchó día a día, pero que finalmente hace la diferencia en la vida del creyente. Para el hombre, en la perspectiva de este mundo, Pablo es deshonrado, pero entre la hueste celestial ... hay honor. ?Quien sabe eso? Tal vez ni siquiera Pablo a veces ... porque es difícil ver más allá del dolor ... pero es lo que es verdad.
· Para el mundo, para el hombre, Pablo no es nadie ... pero para Dios, es conocido. Él está triste, pero en verdad, su dolor es la fuente del verdadero alegria. El es pobre, pero en verdad, está extendiendo una gran riqueza. Se siente así, se ve así, se piensa de esta manera ... que no tiene nada ... pero en verdad ... él posee todas las cosas. ¿Cual es verdad? ¿Cuál es duradero? ¿Cuál es más importante? ¿La forma en que el hombre ve las cosas ... o la forma en que Dios las ve?
· La pregunta retórica es una conclusión obvia, pero eso no lo hace fácil o incluso más fácil. Recuerde sus recursos ... pureza, conocimiento, paciencia, amabilidad, amor sincero, la Palabra de Dios, el poder de Dios, la armadura de la justicia y el Espíritu Santo mismo.
· 2 Crónicas 16: 9, "Porque los ojos del Señor corren de un lado a otro por toda la tierra, para fortalecer a aquellos cuyo corazón es completamente suyo.”

2 Corinthians Chapter 13 Verse 1 • Paul may be referring to the fact that this is his third visit or he may be referring to the team that he has with him traveling to Corinth, but at any rate the message is clear. Paul is through investigating, talking about it, admiring the problem…and now he is taking action. • I am a practicing proponent of the 80% rule. The art of the “enough.” I’d rather take action sooner rather than later and course correct along the way than to wait until we have every piece of possible information before doing anything about it. Winston Churchill once said, “Perfection is the enemy of progress,” and Forbes Business magazine once ran an entire series on, “Why Perfection is the Enemy of Done.” • They comment, “Too often, people spend more time staring at the weeds than they do assessing the forest…lost in the details instead of asking whether their work is moving them in the right direction and most of all, never getting anything done. It’s not about getting it perfect; It’s about getting it out the door, and then adjusting from there. It’s momentum that matters.” • Some would have substantial heartburn over what I just said but what I’m talking about is spiritual…how long does it take you to be ok with correction? Do you have to get to the place where sin has shamed and destroyed you or something? That’s one extreme…or are you one where the thing you’re doing, thinking, saying, into could be even assumed or associated with sin…and you pull back!? The other extreme. • Here’s the point, the faster you address an issue the less damage it can cause down the line. As a new Christian, when sin was really wrecking my heart, my mind, my relationship, whatever…I’d get to the point of “enough,” and I’d take some sort of drastic action to change…but at that point it wasn’t without consequence or harm to others…fast forward a bit…as I’ve grown up some in the Lord (and I’m not perfect in this and don’t always do this) but now I know enough of how the flesh wastes me…that when I sense even an opportunity for the flesh, I’ll begin to take precautionary steps to avoid the foolishness of sin. And this method, no consequence and no impact upon others. • Where is your “enough?” I don’t need to understand every angle. I don’t need to work it out in my own heart 100%. I don’t need to dive to the root cause of my anger, lust, frustration or temptation… The cause can be overshadowed and overcome by the fact of who I am today… And with that approach, much more will be done, accomplished, there will be MUCH more progress in your life. Will you make mistakes? Of course! Will you have to deal with the same issue more than once, of course! But it’s all about momentum and serving the Lord right where you’re at, today! 2 Corinthians Chapter 13 Verses 2 – 3 • Strong words by Paul for sure but he says something here that is intriguing. He says, “A proof of Christ.” Honestly, I seek a proof of Christ in my life…not like needing signs and wonders and things like that but if I’m honest (transparent), I need to see the Lord. Just to be encouraged, just to be reminded, just to know again that God is here, with me, walking with me, assuring His Word and promises…I don’t think I’m the only one either. • Well what Paul says really helps here. Because the word he uses for “proof,” can also be translated, “trial.” I think in my flesh I look for blessings, for provision, for things of the physical to in some way prove to me the truth of the spiritual. But the proof can always be found in the trial. David wrote in Psalm 91:2, “I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”” Statements like that cannot be made unless you know the need for refuge and unless you know the need for fortification. • Jack Graham writes, “When trials come your way, they aren’t coming to taunt or to punish you but to prepare you. Nothing in this world can draw you closer to God than trials and suffering.” I am a proof seeker constantly, and I think there are many like me. A rich source of proof of God in our lives can be found in the trials, man. But you can’t find what you don’t seek and that’s the trick…seek the Lord when the moment is hard and see if you don’t find Him right there, willing to make you more than you are and to see you through. What Paul says here helps me…because as I look back at just what I’ve been through, there’s so much proof of God’s promises and His love for me! 2 Corinthians Chapter 13 Verse 4 • Christians are not martyrs on the altar of sin. We don’t, just as Jesus didn’t, come to die but rather we come to live and to bring life. To overcome the altars of sin… Christ was put to shame on the cross but He was also put to victory by His resurrection! Many view Christianity only through the lens of the cross and scoff at the weakness and meekness of the people but that’s not the whole picture. It’s not the final state of the Christian…yes, we go through the crucifying of the flesh but the same power that rose Jesus from the grave, dwells in the heart and spirit of those that would follow Him all the way! 2 Corinthians Chapter 13 Verses 5 - 6 • Look, I just want to show you something before we get all behavior centric…because certainly one way to know what kind of tree it is by the fruit it produces and there is good Biblical proof text for that teaching…but look at what Paul says. He says, “Whether you are IN the faith.” Faith is a lot of things. It is believing, it is doing, it is staying…a lot of things, but it is also simply something that you enter into when you give your life to Jesus Christ. • How do I know if I am in the faith? Have I received the grace of God through Jesus Christ? Is my hope not in my own goodness but in the sacrifice of the cross? Is my heart in the Lord? Am I IN the faith? We can do good things, say nice things, teach well, preach well, serve a bunch but at the end of it all, where’s your heart? Does it belong to Jesus? Are you in the faith? • All that Paul has addressed, confronted, rebutted and rebuked…if they, the Corinthian church is indeed in the faith…they may wince at the sting of the moment but after they live a little, because their hearts belong to Jesus, they will soften up, repent and humble themselves…that’s the work of the Spirit, man… How do we test ourselves, know ourselves, whether we are or are not in the faith…just as Paul says here, do you know that Jesus Christ is in you… • Here are the questions on the test. First, do you love the Lord? This is the primary symptom of faith! Jesus said in John 14:15, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” Is there a desire to serve the Lord in your heart? Second, do you love truth? 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10, “The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.” • Third, do you see the spiritual? Is God constantly showing you that what you see it superficial and that in everything and every moment and every way, there is more than just the physical of it all? 1 Corinthians 2:14, “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” And fourth, do you love the family? John 13:35, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” Certainly not an exhaustive list by any means, but the primary questions on the examination for sure! • How will they know that Paul is not disqualified? That he is in the faith? Because as soon as he comes and they welcome him with love, all of the sharpness will be immediately gone…because love always meets love in the life and heart of someone who is in the faith. 2 Corinthians Chapter 13 Verses 7 – 10 • There it is, there’s his heart, firmly in the hands and in the control of the Spirit of God. That although he should hate them and forever forfeit his fatherhood to them, he loves them and wants only for them to be made complete. Even in the end of all the wrong that has been done to him, he would that each one of them be built up to completion…that’s that love your enemy good stuff right there and most definitely proof of Christ in you…that IS the cross! 2 Corinthians Chapter 13 Verses 11 – 14 • A bit of a pattern, a secret revealed as Paul wraps up this letter to them and to us…he says, become complete. Yes, that is a work of the Spirit in your life but the Spirit of God will never force you one direction or the other…growing up and becoming complete human beings is a work of the Lord through the act of the will. We must step forward, press forward, do something, put some work in…and that enables, allows and promotes the work of the Spirit in our lives. We are not to sleep until complete…we are to become complete. • 1 Peter 1:22-23 says, “Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.” Folks, it’s doesn’t end when you get saved, it begins…and what has been done in you is likened to a seed. It’s got to grow, and without certain conditions, there will be no growth…who’s the planter? God. Who is the farmer? Me… • I want and desire good comfort. No matter the challenge or situation and not only for myself but even more so to be a source of good comfort for my family. I want singleness of mind. Ability to be laser focused on what is good and right…profitable and progressful (my word). I want to be a man of peace, to sow peace and to personify peace. Goes hand in hand with good comfort. I want to walk closely with and know God…I want to greet the brethren with love, all the saints. I want to be filled with the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit…but all of that comes after I submit myself squarely to God and allow, welcome, set the conditions for that growth work of the Holy Spirit in my heart to completion. • And I hope that you will agree with me and agree with Paul as we close this book with that exhortation and truth…and say for yourselves, “Amen.” 2 Corintios Capítulo 13 Verso 1 ● Paul puede estar refiriéndose al hecho de que esta es su tercera visita o puede estar refiriéndose al equipo que tiene con él viajando a Corinto, pero en cualquier caso el mensaje es claro. No se trata de hacerlo perfecto; Se trata de sacarlo por la puerta y luego ajustarlo desde allí. Lo importante es impulsar". ● Algunos tendrían dolor estomacal por lo que acabo de decir, pero de lo que estoy hablando es espiritual ... ¿Cuánto tiempo te lleva estar bien con la corrección? ¿Tienes que llegar al lugar donde el pecado te ha avergonzado y destruido o algo así? Ese es un extremo ... ¿o eres uno en el que lo que estás haciendo, pensando, diciendo, incluso podría ser asumido o asociado con el pecado ... y retrocedes? El otro extremo.. ● Aquí está el punto, cuanto más rápido enfrentes un problema, menos daño puede causar en el futuro. Como nuevo cristiano, cuando el pecado realmente estaba destrozando mi corazón, mi mente, mi relación, lo que sea ... llegaría al punto de "no más", y tomaría algún tipo de acción drástica para cambiar ... pero en ese punto no fue sin consecuencias ni daño para los demás ... avance un poco ... como he crecido en el Señor (y no soy perfecto en esto y no siempre hago esto) pero ahora sé lo suficiente de cómo la carne me acaba... que cuando percibo incluso una oportunidad para la carne, comenzaré a tomar medidas de precaución para evitar la necedad del pecado. Y este método, sin consecuencias y sin impacto en los demás. ● ¿Dónde está tu "no más"? No necesito entender cada ángulo. No necesito resolverlo en mi propio corazón al 100%. No necesito sumergirme en la raíz de mi ira, lujuria, frustración o tentación ... La causa puede ser eclipsada y superada por el hecho de quién soy hoy ... Y con ese enfoque, se hará mucho más, se logrará, Habrá MUCHO más progreso en tu vida. ¿Cometerás errores? ¡Obviamente! ¿Tendrás que lidiar con el mismo problema más de una vez, por supuesto! ¡Pero todo se trata de ímpetu y servir al Señor justo donde estás hoy! 2 Corintios Capítulo 13 Versículos 2 - 3 ● Las palabras de Paul son seguramente fuertes, pero él dice algo aquí que es intrigante. Él dice: "Una prueba de Cristo". Honestamente, busco una prueba de Cristo en mi vida ... no como si necesitara señales, maravillas y cosas así, pero si soy honesto (transparente), necesito ver al Señor. Solo para ser alentado, solo para ser recordado, sólo para saber de nuevo que Dios está aquí, conmigo, caminando conmigo, asegurando Su Palabra y promesas ... No creo que yo sea el único tampoco. ● Bueno, lo que dice Paul realmente ayuda aquí. Debido a que la palabra que usa para "prueba", también se puede traducir, "juicio". Creo que en mi carne busco bendiciones, provisión, cosas de lo físico que de alguna manera me prueben la verdad de lo espiritual. Pero la prueba siempre se puede encontrar en el juicio. David escribió en el Salmo 91: 2: "Diré del Señor:" Él es mi refugio y mi fortaleza, mi Dios, en quien confío ". Declaraciones como estas no se pueden hacer a menos que sepas la necesidad de refugio y conoce la necesidad de fortificación. ● Jack Graham escribe: "Cuando se te presentan juicios, no vienen para burlarte o castigarte, sino para prepararte. Lo que dice Pablo aquí me ayuda ... porque cuando miro hacia atrás por lo que he pasado, ¡hay muchas pruebas de las promesas de Dios y de su amor por mí! 2 Corintios Capítulo 13 Versículo 4 ● Los cristianos no son mártires en el altar del pecado. Nosotros, al igual que Jesús no venimos a morir, sino que venimos a vivir y a dar vida. Para vencer los altares del pecado ... ¡Cristo fue avergonzado en la cruz pero también fue victorioso por su resurrección! Muchos ven el cristianismo sólo a través de la lente de la cruz y se burlan de la debilidad y la mansedumbre de la gente, pero esa no es la imágen completa. No es el estado final del cristiano ... sí, pasamos por la crucificción de la carne, ¡sino el mismo poder que levantó a Jesús de la tumba, habita en el corazón y el espíritu de aquellos que lo seguirán hasta el final! 2 Corintios Capítulo 13 Versículos 5 - 6 ● Mira, solo quiero mostrarle algo antes de centrarnos en el comportamiento ... porque ciertamente una forma de saber qué tipo de árbol es por el fruto que produce y hay un buen texto de prueba bíblica para esa enseñanza ... pero mire lo que dice Paul . Él dice: "Si estás en la fe". La fe es muchas cosas. Es creer, está haciendo, se está quedando ... muchas cosas, pero también es simplemente algo en lo que entras cuando le das tu vida a Jesucristo. ● ¿Cómo sé si estoy en la fe? ¿He recibido la gracia de Dios a través de Jesucristo? ¿Mi esperanza no está en mi propia bondad sino en el sacrificio de la cruz? ¿Está mi corazón en el Señor? ¿Estoy en la fe? Podemos hacer cosas buenas, decir cosas buenas, enseñar bien, predicar bien, servir un montón, pero al final de todo, ¿dónde está tu corazón? ¿Le pertenece a Jesús? ¿Estás en la fe? ● Todo lo que Pablo ha abordado, confrontado, refutado y reprendido ... si ellos, la iglesia de Corinto está realmente en la fe ... pueden hacer una mueca de dolor en el momento, pero después de vivir un poco, porque sus corazones pertenecen a Jesús, se ablandaran. levantarán, arrepentiran y humillaran ... esa es la obra del Espíritu, hombre ... ¿Cómo nos ponemos a prueba, nos conocemos, si estamos o no en la fe ... tal como Pablo dice aquí, sabes que Jesucristo está en ti? ... ● Aquí están las preguntas en el examen. Primero, ¿amas al Señor? ¡Este es el síntoma principal de la fe! Jesús dijo en Juan 14:15: "Si me amas, obedecerán mis mandamientos". ¿Hay un deseo de servir al Señor en tu corazón? Segundo, ¿amas la verdad? 2 Tesalonicenses 2: 9-10: “El malvado vendrá, por obra de Satanás, con toda clase de milagros, señales y prodigios falsos. Con toda perversidad engañará a los que se pierden por haberse negado a amar la verdad y así ser salvos. ". ● Tercero, ¿ves lo espiritual? ¿Te está mostrando Dios constantemente que lo que ves es superficial y que en todo y en cada momento y en todos los sentidos, hay algo más que lo físico? 1 Corintios 2:14, “El que no tiene el Espíritu[a] no acepta lo que procede del Espíritu de Dios, pues para él es locura. No puede entenderlo, porque hay que discernirlo espiritualmente.". Y cuarto, ¿amas a la familia? Juan 13:35, "De este modo todos sabrán que son mis discípulos, si se aman los unos a los otros».". Ciertamente, no es una lista exhaustiva de ninguna manera, ¡pero las preguntas principales en el examen seguro! ● ¿Cómo sabrán que Pablo no está descalificado? ¿Que él está en la fe? Porque tan pronto como él venga y lo reciban con amor, toda la agudeza desaparecerá de inmediato ... porque el amor siempre se encuentra con el amor en la vida y el corazón de alguien que está en la fe. 2 Corintios Capítulo 13 Versículos 7-10 ● Ahí está, ahí está su corazón, firmemente en las manos y en el control del Espíritu de Dios. Que, aunque debería odiarlos y rendir para siempre su paternidad, los ama y solo quiere que se hagan completos. Incluso al final de todo el mal que se le ha hecho, él querría que cada uno de ellos se construyera hasta su finalización ... eso es que ama a tu enemigo cosas buenas allí mismo y definitivamente prueba de Cristo en ti ... esa ES la cruz ! 2 Corintios Capítulo 13 Versículos 11-14 ● Un poco de un patrón, un secreto revelado cuando Paul envuelve esta carta para ellos y para nosotros ... él dice, a completarse. Sí, esa es una obra del Espíritu en tu vida, pero el Espíritu de Dios nunca te forzará en una dirección u otra ... crecer y convertirse en seres humanos completos es una obra del Señor a través del acto de la voluntad. Debemos dar un paso adelante, seguir adelante, hacer algo, trabajar un poco ... y eso habilita, permite y promueve el trabajo del Espíritu en nuestras vidas. No debemos dormirdos hasta estar completos ... debemos llegar a ser completos. ● 1 Pedro 1: 22-23 dice: “Habiendo purificado la vida de ustedes en obediencia a la verdad para un amor fraternal no fingido, ámense los unos a los otros ardientemente y de corazón puro; pues han nacido de nuevo, no de simiente corruptible sino de incorruptible, por medio de la palabra de Dios que vive y permanece[a].". Amigos, no termina cuando se guardan, allí comienza ... y lo que se ha hecho en ustedes se compara con una semilla. Tiene que crecer, y sin ciertas condiciones, no habrá crecimiento ... ¿quién es la sembradora? Dios. ¿Quién es el granjero? Yo… ● Quiero y deseo buen confort. No importa el desafío o la situación, y no solo para mí sino para ser una fuente de buen confort para mi familia. Quiero unidad de la mente. Capacidad para enfocarse en lo que es bueno y correcto ... rentable y progresivo (mi palabra). Quiero ser un hombre de paz, sembrar la paz y personificar la paz. Va de la mano con buen confort. Quiero caminar de cerca y conocer a Dios ... Quiero saludar a los hermanos con amor, a todos los santos. Quiero ser lleno de la gracia del Señor Jesucristo, el amor de Dios y la comunión del Espíritu Santo ... pero todo eso viene después de que me someto directamente a Dios y permitir, recibir, establecer las condiciones para ese trabajo de crecimiento. del Espíritu Santo en mi corazón hasta su finalización. ● Y espero que estén de acuerdo conmigo y con Paul al cerrar este libro con esa exhortación y verdad ... y decir por sí mismos: "Amén".

2 Corinthians Chapter 12 Verses 11 - 13 • It strikes me that Paul would say this of himself, that he is nothing. Surely, he is so much to so many, he has done so much, been through so much, led so much, achieved so much, but makes this statement that his boasting is foolish and he himself is nothing. Literally he says here, “I am no man,” why? (He is finally revealing that he is a Cyborg! HA!) Listen, it’s not that he hates himself and thinks that he is terrible. Its that he wants to talk about Jesus, his heart is to teach them the truth about God, but he is having to defend himself instead. So, the “no man,” the “nothing” comment is in relation to Jesus Christ and the truth and righteousness found in Him. Paul knows the truth and righteousness is not found in Paul… • It’s actually entirely Godly for Paul to think this way and express that comment in this letter. If I can get to the place where my opinion and perspective of Jesus Christ is so entirely high that I truly can say, “I’m no man, I’m no matter, no factor,” then I come to a place of full trust and dependence and default to God! That’s a good place to be! That is the very core of strength and reason that Jesus displayed on the cross as He submitted to the will of the Father because of the greater purpose of saving the folks from hell, He regarded Himself as forsaken…no man. • We read in Psalm 22, the Messianic Psalm of Psalms, specifically verse 6, “But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised by the people.” Was Jesus actually a worm and no man? Not at all! But the cause, the purpose, the reason was so much more than the moment. Same with Paul. • You know, over the years I have at times said things of myself from the pulpit like, “I’m an idiot, a knucklehead, hardheaded, foolish…,” and you know I’ve had people leave the church because of that… They say things like, “You shouldn’t say those things about yourself or you should never speak negativity into your life,” and stuff like that…and I get it, I can appreciate them and what they’re saying, but I say to them, “I’m sorry that offends you…but its true! The Word is my thought because my own thoughts are foolish and God is all that is good, everything I am without the Lord is truly dumb, nonsensical…so I’m sorry if that offends you but I promise you, I’m going to do it again.” • Paul isn’t nothing…he is a hero of the faith. He is a light house and a beacon of truth and his ministry and life and calling echo into every life in this room and countless others even to this day…but his heart is that God must increase and he must decrease…and truly compared to and or without Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit in his heart and life, he’s not even a man! So, the reason of it all greatly outweighs his own self-importance to the point that he has given himself entirely for the purpose and will of God. And so, he regards himself as nothing. Where did he learn that…from watching Jesus… • Again, it’s not that Paul, or Jesus or you or I or nothing…it’s that God is so great that who He overwhelms anything and everything else to the point that it’s as if it’s not even there and there you arrive at and find strength to attend to any challenge with courage and resolve because no matter how it goes…you cannot lost that which you do not have but that which has you. 2 Corinthians Chapter 12 Verses 14 - 15 • This is such an important statement of Paul and truly what defines a Godly minister…is that he or she isn’t seeking to be cared for but to care for others themselves. Some would say that this is a “pastor’s heart” and I would agree but I don’t believe it is confined to only pastors. I believe this is the heart of a true servant/minister of the Lord because this is the Lord’s heart! God does not want us to draw near to Him for what He can get from us! What does He need? He is the landlord of every land! The ultimate owner of every deed! The sovereign God of heaven and earth! • The fact is that God desires to be near to us for not what He receives but for what He can give to those who trust Him. What He can entrust to those who will be faithful to Him…and to just simply be near to us. I have had friends in my life, and I know you have too, that you just so want to be around them. They don’t do anything for you, no special skills, but your heart just is so very fond of them that the great blessing is simply being near to them. This is the heart of God for you…just as we read here, God doesn’t want from you…He simply wants you…and here is the maturity and singleness of heart…even though the less he is loved, he (Paul) and He (Jesus) yet love us all the more… • Love keeps no account of wrong. It is generous. It is forgiving. It is pure. It is unaffected by evil. It is unquenchable. Unchangeable. It never fails and it never forsakes. God is pure love and the minister…the pastor…the God-filled person will be a faint shadow of the same and that is what we see in Paul in these heart-filled verses. 2 Corinthians Chapter 12 Verses 16 – 18 • Paul is most likely responding here sarcastically in a way to his accusers that would accuse him of being crafty. “Paul doesn’t take money for himself but then when he leaves, that money you gave for the poor in Jerusalem doesn’t really get to them.” Paul is saying to think that I or Titus would steal from you, take advantage of you or do any of those things we are being accused of flies in the face and is completely against the character we both had in your presence. And I like that…Paul says, let my character and the character of my squad prove or disprove the accusations! 2 Corinthians Chapter 12 Verses 19 – 21 • These are the things that Paul does not want to be a part of, really the reason for this letter at all. Contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits and tumults (fights)…anyone like any of these things? Me either! But the crazy thing is that many that know the Lord and many that have a heart to grow in the Lord will allow these things into your lives this week and will even initiate some of these things in your lives this week. • What are we doing? It’s just crazy. Paul dealt with this duality and fallen nature as well though. Listen, just because this week you will do some backbiting, although I would pray not…you may do some contending in the flesh, although I would pray not…that does not make you a hypocrite! That makes you a sinner. A hypocrite is made by someone who does those things and then denies that you’ve done them…and hypocrisy is disgusting…sickening…because hypocrisy at its core is infinitesimally childish! • And so, although I would pray that you and I would not, when we do these things this week that we read here…it only proves that we need Jesus all the more. Paul himself dealt with this as we read in Romans 7:15-25, look at this with me… • Jesus Christ is our Lord, our Savior, our Father, our King…all of those things but He is also our hope! The cure! The way tro save us even in our days from all of these things that none of us truly want…He has done so much already…oh how He yet desires to do so much for us…and to show us what Paul has been shown, the courage and resolve to meet any challenge and walk away rejoicing…. 2 Corintios Capítulo 12 Versículos 11-13 · Me llama la atención que Pablo diría esto de sí mismo, que él no es nada. Seguramente, es tanto para tantos, que ha hecho tanto, ha pasado por tanto, dirigido tanto, logrado tanto, pero hace esta declaración de que su jactancia es tonta y él mismo no es nada. Literalmente dice aquí: "No soy hombre", ¿por qué? (¡Finalmente está revelando que es un Cyborg! ¡JA!) Escucha, no es que se odie a sí mismo y piense que es terrible. Es que quiere hablar de Jesús, su corazón es enseñarles la verdad sobre Dios, pero en lugar de eso tiene que defenderse. Entonces, el "no hombre", el comentario de "nada" está en relación con Jesucristo y la verdad y la justicia que se encuentran en EL. Pablo sabe que la verdad y la justicia no se encuentran en Pablo ... · En realidad, es completamente piadoso que Paul piense de esta manera y exprese ese comentario en esta carta. Si puedo llegar al lugar donde mi opinión y perspectiva de Jesucristo es tan alta que realmente puedo decir: "No soy hombre, no soy materia ni factor", entonces llego a un lugar lleno ¡Confianza y dependencia de Dios! ¡Ese es un buen lugar para estar! Ese es el núcleo mismo de la fuerza y la razón que Jesús mostró en la cruz cuando se sometió a la voluntad del Padre debido al mayor propósito de salvar a la gente del infierno, El se consideraba abandonado ... nos se consideraba ningún hombre. · Leemos en el Salmo 22, el Salmo Mesiánico de los Salmos, específicamente el versículo 6, “Pero yo soy un gusano, y ningún hombre; Un reproche a los hombres, y despreciado por la gente ". ¿Era Jesús realmente un gusano y ningún hombre? ¡De ningún modo! Pero la causa, el propósito, la razón fue mucho más que el momento. Lo mismo con Pablo. · Sabes, a lo largo de los años, a veces he dicho cosas de mí mismo desde el púlpito como: "Soy un idiota, un tonto, terco, ...", y sabes que he tenido gente que abandona la iglesia por eso ... Dicen cosas como: "No deberías decir esas cosas sobre ti o nunca deberías hablar negatividad en tu vida", y cosas así ... y lo entiendo, puedo apreciarlos y lo que están diciendo, pero digo a ellos, "Siento que te ofendan ... ¡pero es verdad! La Palabra es mi pensamiento porque mis propios pensamientos son tontos y Dios es todo lo que es bueno, todo lo que soy sin el Señor es realmente tonto, sin sentido ... así que lo siento si eso te ofende, pero te lo prometo, lo volveré hacer." · No es que Pablo no sea nada ... es un héroe de la fe. Él es un faro y un faro de verdad en su ministerio y vida, y hace eco en cada vida en esta sala y en innumerables otras incluso hasta el día de hoy ... pero su corazón es que Dios debe aumentar y debe disminuir ... y verdaderamente comparado con y o sin Jesucristo y la obra del Espíritu Santo en su corazón y vida, ¡él ni siquiera sería un hombre! Entonces, la razón de todo esto supera en gran medida su propia importancia personal hasta el punto de que se ha entregado por completo al propósito y la voluntad de Dios. Algunos dirían que este es el "corazón de un pastor" y estaría de acuerdo, pero no creo que se limite solo a los pastores. Creo que este es el corazón de un verdadero siervo / ministro del Señor ¡porque este es el corazón del Señor! ¡Dios no quiere que nos acerquemos a Él por lo que puede obtener de nosotros! ¿Qué necesita? ¡Él es el dueño de todas las tierras! ¡El último dueño de cada acto! ¡El Dios soberano del cielo y la tierra! · El hecho es que Dios desea estar cerca de nosotros, no por lo que recibe, sino por lo que puede dar a quienes confían en Él. Lo que puede confiar a aquellos que serán fieles a Él ... y simplemente estar cerca de nosotros. He tenido amigos en mi vida, y sé que tú también, que quieres estar cerca de ellos. No hacen nada por ti, no tienen habilidades especiales, pero tu corazón les tiene tanto cariño que la gran bendición es simplemente estar cerca de ellos. Este es el corazón de Dios para ti ... tal como lo leemos aquí, Dios no quiere de ti ... Él simplemente te quiere ... y aquí está la madurez y la solidez del corazón ... a pesar de que cuanto menos es amado, él (Pablo) y Él (Jesús) nos ama aún más ... · El amor no tiene en cuenta el mal. Es generoso. Es indulgente. Es puro No se ve afectado por el mal. Es insaciable. Inmutable Nunca falla y nunca abandona. Dios es amor puro y el ministro ... el pastor ... la persona llena de Dios será una débil sombra de lo mismo y eso es lo que vemos en Pablo en estos versículos llenos de corazón. 2 Corintios Capítulo 12 Versículos 16-18 · Lo más probable es que Pablo esta respondiendo aquí sarcásticamente de una manera a sus acusadores que lo acusarían de ser astuto. "Pablo no toma dinero para sí mismo, pero luego, cuando se va, el dinero que le diste a los pobres en Jerusalén realmente no llega a ellos". Pablo les dice eso que piensan que yo o Titus les robaremos, que nos aprovecharemos o que haremos cualquiera de esas cosas de las que se nos acusa es una burla en nuestra cara y está completamente en contra del carácter que ambos hemos sido en su presencia. Y yo así ... Paul dice, ¡deja que mi carácter y el carácter de mi escuadrón prueben o refuten las acusaciones! 2 Corintios Capítulo 12 Versículos 19-21 · Estas son las cosas de las que Pablo no quiere ser parte, realmente la razón de esta carta. Contenciones, celos, arrebatos de ira, ambiciones egoístas, murmuraciones, susurros, engreídos y tumultos (peleas) ... ¿a alguien le gusta alguna de estas cosas? ¡A mi tampoco! Pero lo loco es que muchos que conocen al Señor y muchos que tienen un corazón para crecer en el Señor permitirán estas cosas en sus vidas esta semana e incluso iniciarán algunas de estas cosas en sus vidas, si esta semana. · ¿Que estamos haciendo? Es una locura. Sin embargo, Pablo también lidió con esta dualidad y la naturaleza caída. Escucha, solo porque esta semana harás algunas murmuraciones, aunque yo rezaría que no ... puedes contender un poco en la carne, aunque rezaría no ... ¡eso no te convierte en un hipócrita! Eso te hace un pecador. Un hipócrita es hecho por alguien que hace esas cosas y luego niega que las hayas hecho ... y la hipocresía es repugnante ... repugnante ... ¡porque la hipocresía en su núcleo es infinitesimalmente infantil! · Y así, aunque rezaría para que tú y yo no lo hiciéramos, cuando hagamos estas cosas esta semana que leemos aquí ... solo prueba que necesitamos a Jesús aún más. Pablo mismo se ocupó de esto mientras leemos en Romanos 7: 15-25, mira esto conmigo ... · Jesucristo es nuestro Señor, nuestro Salvador, nuestro Padre, nuestro Rey ... ¡todas esas cosas pero Él también es nuestra esperanza! ¡La cura! La forma en que nos salva, incluso en nuestros días, de todas estas cosas que ninguno de nosotros realmente queremos ... Él ya ha hecho tanto ... oh cómo desea El hacer tanto por nosotros aun ... y mostrarnos lo Él le ha mostrado a Pablo, el coraje y la resolución de enfrentar cualquier desafío y alejarse regocijándose ...

2 Corinthians Chapter 12 Verse 1 • That is basically the format for this chapter. Paul will write about a vision that he had in the next five verses and then beginning in verse 7, Paul will share revelations. Revelations aren’t necessarily visions…they can be but revelations are when God discloses truth in your understanding. Explanations of things that mean so much more than you thought a moment ago…and that new understanding in a way…travels throughout your entire frame of life, way of thinking and even sometimes your world view to uncover what’s perhaps always been there but now entirely and intensely makes sense… • Visions are a blessing…and I’ve had a few in my life…but revelations are, or should be, fairly common place in the life of a Christian. Think about it… You’re walking and talking and learning constantly from the Creator of all things…infinite, majestic, mighty, inexhaustible goodness and wisdom…it just makes sense that revelation of deeper understanding and meaning would be incessant! • I’ve got a file on my phone for the ones that stop me in my tracks. Sometimes its little revelations and gentle reminders…encouragements…but for the big ones I have a file called, “Things He shows me.” What’s interesting is that if you read through the things I’ve written, I am sure that the majority of them you would be like, “What!? Makes no sense.” Precisely! They aren’t about making sense…these are things beyond sense… • One note I have written in my file I wrote a while back when I must have been sick…I don’t even remember the last time I was sick, praise God, but I wrote this, “It’s extremely hard to be with my family and not be able to love them.” Why would I write that…? Because in that moment I glimpsed what it’s like for the Lord as He pursues one of His lost children. And my heart changed that day toward the lost, in a very good way, and in a very permanent way. That is revelation. Romans 11:33 says, “Oh, the depth of the riches both of wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” You can’t “find them out,” but oh boy He can reveal them to you! 2 Corinthians Chapter 12 Verse 2 • First, understand that the “third heaven” is the spiritual realm. The first heaven is the immediate atmosphere. Hebrews 4:14 says, “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.” So not only do we see multiple “heavens” in this statement but we also know that this heaven that is being spoken of is the atmosphere as we read in Acts 1:9, “While they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.” • The second heaven is the celestial heaven or what we call outer space. It includes the sun, moon and stars (and little green men, HA! Nah, just Captain Kirk! HA!). Matthew 24:29 says, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” • The third heaven is the heaven of heavens and speaks of that which is beyond what is visible…the spiritual realm and holy place of God Most High. Acts 7:55, “Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.” • And so, Paul says that he knew a man that was caught up in a vision into the heaven of heavens. Now, because of verse 7, where Paul flips to the first person, we are quite sure that he is talking about himself and there are all kinds of ideas as to why he would use the third person here but that’s just what he does… 2 Corinthians Chapter 12 Verses 3 – 6 • Super interesting. He heard stuff, he saw stuff, he tells us nothing. Why? “It is not lawful for a man to utter.” The word “lawful” in the Greek is “exesti,” where we get our word “exist,” or “existence.” What Paul saw was beyond our knowledge and understanding of existence today. Perhaps if he shared it then he would be regarded as a madman. Perhaps it was so overwhelming that words fail altogether. • At any rate, check this out, he waited 14 years to say anything about it, in sharing the account he takes every step possible to take the focus off of himself, and he doesn’t even try with any details. When you receive a vision from God, truly, its not at all about exalting yourself. Visions and revelations are for God’s heightened importance and priority in your heart, mind and life (soul and strength). And that is perhaps why so many Christians don’t get them… • James 4:3 says, “You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on yourself…” My walk with God is not about “My,” its about God…God is not practicing Mattianity…He is not a Mattian…It’s me who is a Christian! Paul keeps the vision entirely about God! • Now Paul comes to Revelations… 2 Corinthians Chapter 12 Verses 7 – 9 • No one knew of his heavenly vision, but everyone saw the thorn. And it was probably something that his critics there in Corinth used against him, to poke fun at him or to devalue him. But Paul says something here that is intriguing…he says he was given it, not that it was his affliction. • Three times he prayed for God to take his affliction away but then he received the revelation…that without the issue, he would know less of God’s grace. This flies in the face of faith healers… It’s been said, “Humility is royalty without a crown,” and if God resists the proud…then grace flows to and through the humble. Paul says my affliction is my gift, because it brings me closer to God…less reliant on myself and more dependent upon God. • Notice this also, the greater blessing for Paul was found in the unfavorable answer from God. We need to listen to the Word of God even when it corrects and rebukes where we are at…because if we will heed the Word, there is revelation and blessing ahead. 2 Corinthians Chapter 12 Verse 10 • What a statement… Do you consider yourself a “strong” person? Able to handle anyone, anything… That’s not me at all. It’s embarrassing to think about how little I can actually handle. The smallest things get right to me and wreck me…and the big things…I drown. Embarrassing because that’s not honorable in the eyes of men…but the truth is that there is a weakness that surpasses my own for those who consider themselves “strong” in and of themselves. • Paul only knows the grace and strength of God…because he has to… This is Paul. The apostle of apostles, and if it weren’t for his infirmity, he would not have had the wisdom nor the ability to choose humility and dependence upon God (chosen child-likeness in his heart of hearts) and he would have missed his calling. Missed out on intimacy with the Lord and the revelation reality of who God really is… • God says, “My strength is made perfect…complete…fully revealed….in weakness.” When you need it… Are you weak today? The world buffets you about it…that mean punches you…your own self condemns; you hide it so well… you are at an advantage! Tether close to the Lord! Are you in need? Hurting? Tired? Downcast…thorned in the flesh? Straighten your crown and walk with the Lord! Here’s what will happen and the person you will become… • Years will trek by and you will make it, year after year…trusting in the Lord and trusting His Word…and then you will look back and magnify the Lord in your heart! You’ll end up running over to Him and worshipping Him, praising God and thanking God for how He has been so mightily faithful! And you’ll know that tomorrow, He will be yet faithful again… And… you’ll find yourself comforting, consoling, guiding and caring for others as they look up to your “strength” that you KNOW has nothing to do with you and so you will bring them to the Lord…because He is your source, your strength… and a few years from then… a few of those folks will find themselves…running over to God in their prayer closet and worshipping Him, praising God and thanking God for how He has been so mightily faithful! • And you, through your weakness have now fulfilled the greatest commandment, to love God, to love others, and you are doing exactly what Jesus has asked of you, disciples are being made…and all the while…are you ever were and are…is weak. And you drop the weight of caring at all about being something or someone strong in an of yourself! No more faces, no more acts, no more hiding, no more limits… • God’s strength is being perfected and you come to this moment where you discover that you are the strongest of strong, and strength not only flows within you but absolutely through you…as lives are built up around you…and the confidence and sustainability of it all dawns on you like the blinding sunrise as you resolve that all of it has nothing to do with you at all… • Then you’re free. Grateful. Powerful. Humble. Lovely…and all of heaven rejoices with you. So today, if you’re strong in and of yourself…you are at a disadvantage and your joy, peace, love, kindness, longsuffering, goodness, gentleness and self-control is arrested and held stagnant… I would dare say to pray for affliction… but how can we pray for something unrevealed? Seek the Lord, ask Him to open your heart without the infirmity…but if it comes, perhaps review these notes again. The best is yet ahead. 2 Corintios Capítulo 12 Verso 1 • Ese es básicamente el formato de este capítulo. A veces son pequeñas revelaciones y gentiles recordatorios... alicientes... pero para los grandes tengo un archivo llamado, "Cosas que El me muestra". Lo interesante es que si lee las cosas que he escrito, estoy seguro de que en la mayoría de ellas usted diría: "¿Qué?". No tiene sentido." ¡Precisamente! No se trata de tener sentido... son cosas que van más allá del sentido... • Una nota que he escrito en mi archivo, la escribí hace un tiempo cuando debí haber estado enfermo... Ni siquiera recuerdo la última vez que estuve enfermo, alabado sea Dios, pero escribí esto: "Es extremadamente difícil estar con mi familia y no ser capaz de amarlos". ¿Por qué escribiría eso...? Porque en ese momento vislumbré lo que es para el Señor perseguir a uno de sus hijos perdidos. Y mi corazón cambió ese día hacia los perdidos, de una manera muy buena, y de una manera muy permanente. Eso es una revelación. Romanos 11:33 dice, ¡Qué profundas son las riquezas de Dios, y su sabiduría y entendimiento! Nadie puede explicar sus decisiones, ni llegar a comprender sus caminos. Usted no puede "descubrirlos", pero, ¡El puede revelártelos! 2 Corintios Capítulo 12 Verso 2 • Primero, entienda que el "tercer cielo" es el reino espiritual. El primer cielo es la atmósfera inmediata. Hebreos 4:14 dice, “Jesús, el Hijo de Dios, es nuestro gran Sumo sacerdote que ha entrado en el cielo. Por eso debemos seguir firmes en la fe que profesamos.” Así que no sólo vemos múltiples "cielos" en esta declaración, sino que también sabemos que este cielo del que se habla es la atmósfera, como leemos en Hechos 1:9, ”Mientras ellos lo estaban mirando, Jesús fue levantado, y una nube lo envolvió y no lo volvieron a ver.” • El segundo cielo es el cielo celestial o lo que llamamos espacio exterior. Incluye el sol, la luna y las estrellas (y los hombrecitos verdes, HA! Nah, sólo el capitán Kirk! HA!). Mateo 24:29 dice: Tan pronto como pasen aquellos días de sufrimiento, el sol se oscurecerá, la luna dejará de dar su luz, las estrellas caerán del cielo y las fuerzas celestiales temblarán. • El tercer cielo es el cielo de los cielos y habla de lo que está más allá de lo visible... el reino espiritual y el lugar santo del Dios Altísimo. Hechos 7:55, Pero Esteban, lleno del Espíritu Santo, fijos los ojos en el cielo, vio la gloria de Dios y a Jesús de pie a la diestra de Dios; • Y así, Pablo dice que conoció a un hombre que fue atrapado en una visión en el cielo de los cielos. Ahora, debido al versículo 7, donde Pablo se dirige a la primera persona, estamos bastante seguros de que está hablando de sí mismo y hay todo tipo de ideas de por qué usaría la tercera persona aquí, pero eso es lo que hace... 2 Corintios Capítulo 12 Versículos 3 – 6 • Súper interesante. Escuchó cosas, vio cosas, no nos dice nada. ¿Por qué? "No es legal que un hombre diga". La palabra "legal" en el griego es "exesti", de donde obtenemos nuestra palabra "existir" o "existencia". Lo que Pablo vio estaba más allá de nuestro conocimiento y comprensión de la existencia actual. Tal vez si lo compartiera entonces sería considerado como un loco. Tal vez era tan abrumador que las palabras fallan por completo. • En cualquier caso, miren esto, esperó 14 años para decir algo al respecto, al compartir el relato da todos los pasos posibles para desviar la atención de sí mismo, y ni siquiera intenta con ningún detalle. Cuando recibes una visión de Dios, en verdad, no se trata en absoluto de exaltarse a sí mismo. Las visiones y revelaciones son para la importancia y prioridad de Dios en tu corazón, mente y vida (alma y fuerza). Y esa es quizás la razón por la que tantos cristianos no las reciben... • Santiago 4:3 dice: "Pedís y no recibís, porque pedís mal, para gastarlo en vosotros mismos..." Mi caminar con Dios no es sobre "Mi", es sobre Dios... Dios no está practicando la Mattianidad... No es un Mattian... ¡Soy yo quien es un cristiano! ¡Pablo mantiene la visión completamente sobre Dios! • Ahora Pablo llega a las Revelaciones... 2 Corintios Capítulo 12 Versículos 7 -9 • Nadie sabía de su visión celestial, pero todos vieron la espina. Y probablemente fue algo que sus críticos allí en Corinto usaron en su contra, para burlarse de él o para devaluarlo. Pero Pablo dice algo aquí que es intrigante... dice que se la dieron, no que fuera su aflicción. • Tres veces oró a Dios para que le quitara su aflicción pero luego recibió la revelación... que sin el problema, sabría menos de la gracia de Dios. Esto va en contra de los curanderos de la fe... Se ha dicho, "La humildad es la realeza sin corona", y si Dios resiste a los orgullosos... entonces la gracia fluye hacia y a través de los humildes. Pablo dice, mi aflicción es mi regalo, porque me acerca a Dios... menos dependiente de mí mismo y más dependiente de Dios. • Noten esto también, la mayor bendición para Pablo se encontró en la respuesta desfavorable de Dios. Necesitamos escuchar la Palabra de Dios incluso cuando nos corrige y reprende donde estamos... porque si prestamos atención a la Palabra, hay una revelación y una bendición por delante. 2 Corintios Capítulo 12 Verso 10 • Qué declaración... ¿Te consideras una persona "fuerte"? Capaz de manejar a cualquiera, cualquier cosa... Ese no soy yo en absoluto. Es vergonzoso pensar en lo poco que puedo manejar en realidad. Las cosas más pequeñas se me acercan y me destrozan... y las grandes... me ahogo. Es vergonzoso porque eso no es honorable a los ojos de los hombres... pero la verdad es que hay una debilidad que supera a la mía para aquellos que se consideran "fuertes" en sí mismos. • Pablo sólo conoce la gracia y la fuerza de Dios... porque tiene que... Este es Pablo. El apóstol de los apóstoles, y si no fuera por su dolencia, no habría tenido la sabiduría ni la capacidad de elegir la humildad y la dependencia de Dios (la infancia elegida en su corazón de corazones) y habría perdido su vocación. Perdido la intimidad con el Señor y la realidad de la revelación de quién es Dios realmente... • Dios dice, "Mi fuerza se hace perfecta... completa... completamente revelada... en la debilidad." Cuando usted lo necesita... ¿Está débil hoy? El mundo le da un bofetón... eso significa que lo golpea... su propio yo lo condena; lo oculta tan bien... ¡está en ventaja! ¡Acérquese al Señor! ¿Está necesitado? ¿Dolido? ¿Cansado? Abatido... ¿con espinas en la carne? ¡Enderece su corona y camine con el Señor! Esto es lo que sucederá y la persona en la que se convertirá... • Los años pasarán y usted lo logrará, año tras año... confiando en el Señor y confiando en Su Palabra... y entonces usted mirará atrás y magnificará al Señor en su corazón! ¡Terminará corriendo hacia Él y adorándolo, alabando a Dios y agradeciendo a Dios por cómo ha sido tan poderosamente fiel! Y sabrá que mañana, Él será fiel de nuevo... Y... usted se encontrará reconfortando, consolando, guiando y cuidando a los demás mientras miran su "fuerza" que SABE no tiene nada que ver con usted y así los llevara al Señor... porque Él es su fuente, ...y dentro de unos años... algunas de esas personas se encontrarán... corriendo hacia Dios orando en secreto y adorándolo, alabando a Dios y agradeciendo a Dios por cómo ha sido tan poderosamente fiel! • Y usted, a través de su debilidad ha cumplido el mayor mandamiento, amar a Dios, amar a los demás, y está haciendo exactamente lo que Jesús le ha pedido, se están haciendo discípulos...y todo el tiempo... usted siempre fue es...débil. ¡Y deja caer el peso de preocuparse en absoluto por ser algo o alguien fuerte por usted mismo! No más caras, no más actos, no más escondites, no más límites... • La fuerza de Dios se está perfeccionando y usted llega a este momento en el que descubre que usted es el más fuerte de los fuertes, y la fuerza no sólo fluye dentro de usted, sino absolutamente a través de usted... a medida que se construyen vidas a su alrededor... y la confianza y la sostenibilidad de todo ello amanece en usted como el deslumbrante sol a medida que resuelve que todo ello no tiene nada que ver con usted ... • Entonces es libre. Agradecido. Poderoso. Humilde. Encantador... y todo el cielo se regocija con usted. Así que hoy, si es fuerte dentro y por si mismo... está en desventaja y su alegría, paz, amor, bondad, paciencia, bondad, gentileza y autocontrol están detenidos y estancados... Me atrevería a decir que ore por la aflicción... pero ¿cómo podemos orar por algo no revelado? Busque al Señor, pídale que le abra el corazón sin dolencias... pero si llega, quizás revise estas notas de nuevo. Lo mejor está aún por delante.
