Having identified the apostates in very clear language, giving his readers guidelines on how to avoid their teaching errors and stay clear of their destructive ways. Jude is now going to close his letter by encouraging us that we not only should identify apostasy and avoid it, but also to remember that we already have the victory over apostasy, through the example of our Lord Jesus Christ and in studying and applying The written Word of God to our lives.

As we saw last week The book of Jude was originally meant to encourage the saints in their faith, but something more pressing cropped up that threatened to cripple the credibility of the church, and that same thing that was attacking the early church is still alive and prevalent today. Which is why its so important for us to pay close attention to everything that the book of Jude although short in words and detail its mighty in its call to arms.

Jude the youngest of the Lord’s brothers has penned a letter warning the Church of the spiritual infiltration from false teachers bent on distorting what Jesus taught, and turning it into a man centered do as you want gospel, and as we’ve seen haven’t much changed from then until now. Today people have very little respect for authority in and outside of the church, speaking freely and evil of anyone in positions of influence, delusional thinking that the Lord doesn’t care what comes out of their mouths therefore they can say anything.

The Book of Jude is the shortest book written in the New Testament, having just twenty five chapters and depending upon the translation a little over 600 words. But what it lacks in length it more than makes up in content, as Jude uses this short letter to get right to the point in warning the Churches to beware of people who have infiltrated the Church and spread a counterfeit gospel that is quickly infecting the body of Christ.
