Reflecting on Titus 3
December 1, 2024
“The apostle Paul concludes his short letter to his coworker Titus by stressing the priority of good works (Titus 3:1–2, 8, 14), the power of the gospel of grace (Titus 3:3–7), and the need to avoid quarreling and division (Titus 3:2, 9–11). In Titus 3:12–15, Paul offers final instructions and greetings to Titus and the believers with him on Crete. The gospel is central to Titus 3 and the whole letter. Because of God’s saving work in Christ, believers experience cleansing from sin, new birth, justification, adoption as heirs of eternal life, and spiritual empowerment for good works. In Titus 3:1–15, Paul explains that God saves his people from sin and for good works.”
