Pastoral Internship - Summer 2024

Summary The Pastoral Internship is an opportunity for a student pursuing pastoral ministry to partner with our pastoral leadership in equipping the families of our church as they minister in our congregation and community, in accordance with the overall vision and philosophy of ministry for Calvary Baptist Church, Georgetown, DE.   Responsibilities ·      Build gospel-centered relationships in our membership and community ·      Oversee our summer youth and family ministries, including our Midweek Gatherings, which emphasize inter-generational mentoring relationships ·      Assist in the planning and execution of our community outreach ministries, including Vacation Bible School ·      Actively engage in the regular ministries of our church, including worship services, counseling sessions, media and administration. (This will include multiple preaching and teaching opportunities) ·      Serve as a sponsor on our student missions trip to Salt Lake City, Utah (July 27-August 5)   Qualifications ·      Demonstrates the qualifications of an elder as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 ·      Engaging interpersonal skills; able to recruit, train and organize teams of volunteers, and staff (as needed) ·      Detail-oriented; can administer and build on complex systems ·      Self-motivated, not needing micromanagement ·      Works well with a team; demonstrates effective leadership through team-building and effective delegation ·      Able to effectively articulate sound Biblical messages and communicate with a variety of people and audiences ·      Able to problem-solve and resolve conflict ·      Demonstrates a commitment to goals, strategies, and the Statement of Faith of Calvary Baptist Church   Ministry Details ·      Memorial Day Weekend (approx. Family Discipleship Pastor

Summary The Family Discipleship Pastor is to lead and oversee an effective and comprehensive ministry that disciples, equips, and supports the families of the church as they minister to our congregation and community, in accordance with the overall vision and philosophy of ministry for Calvary Baptist Church, Georgetown, DE. Responsibilities - Oversee relational and engaging ministries to children and youth, including Children’s Church and Sunday School, AWANA Clubs, and Vacation Bible School - Lead ministry initiatives that prepare, equip and enrich families to make disciples; this includes overseeing regular courses and/or Bible Studies and fellowship activities - Build a team of mentors to help shepherd families in the spiritual disciplines of Bible Study and prayer - Create relevant community events and initiatives on practical issues of life (e.g., marriage, parenting) that will enhance spiritual and relational growth - Provide biblical counsel to individual students, families, and volunteer staff - Prepare and manage respective ministry budget - Additional pastoral duties—share in preaching, teaching, and administration of ordinances as needed Role - As a vocational pastor/elder on the Leadership Team, the Family Discipleship Pastor serves alongside the Pastor for Preaching and Vision in implementing the mission and vision of the church - He is an ex-officio member of all boards and ministry teams of the church or any of its affiliated organizations - He also directly oversees the Office Assistant as well as any volunteers who serve in our children and family ministries Qualifications - Demonstrates the qualifications of an elder as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 - Engaging interpersonal skills; able to recruit, train and organize teams of volunteers, and staff (as needed) - Detail-oriented; can administer and build on complex systems - Self-motivated, not needing micromanagement - Works well with a team; demonstrates effective leadership through team-building and effective delegation - Able to effectively articulate sound Biblical messages and communicate with a variety of people and audiences - Able to problem-solve and resolve conflict - Demonstrates a commitment to goals, strategies, and the Statement of Faith of Calvary Baptist Church Education and Experience - The candidate must demonstrate experience in leadership and ministry development - He also must evidence a passion and gifting in making disciples as well as a proven track record of organizational skills in developing and carrying out objectives to completion - The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and training from an evangelical theological institution - The candidate must have a minimum of three years of relevant church ministry experience - The candidate should possess the ability to effectively use a computer and software such as Microsoft Office If interested, please contact Jeremy Barbrow at mailto:jeremy@calvarygeorgetown.com or (302) 856-3773
