Growing in Christ in the Church

Give to the Church and Evangelize the Lost
June 28, 2020 • Dr. Peter Radford
This week’s message sought to answer the questions, “Now that I’m a follower of Jesus, what should I do?” Our discussion today provided the final two (of eight) answers to that question: 1. Give to the Church (2 Cor 9:6-15; Isa 55:10-11) 2. Evangelize the Lost (Matt 28:16-20; John 13:35; Eph 4:11-12) One of the goals of this series of messages has been to help us see the importance of the church to the spiritual growth of each believer. A person gives to the church out of a passion to see the mission of the church accomplished, in particular to see people come to the Lord and discipled. A person evangelizes the lost most effectively by inviting them to observe the community of faith, the very community that has equipped him to share the message.

This week we consider the following essentials of the Christian life: 1. Pray Regularly (Heb 4:16; Matt 6:5-13; 1 Thess 5:17) 2. Be Discipled by Others (Matt 28:18-20; 2 Tim 2:2) Note: These topics are addressed on pages 32-40 of What Should I Do Now That I’m a Christian? In our second message on essentials of the Christian life, we consider how consistency in the two basic habits leads to compounded blessing. Whether you are able to worship with us in person at present or in the future, we invite you to commit to God's people and God's Word today.
Get Baptized & Join a Church
June 7, 2020 • Dr. Peter Radford
This week’s message seeks to answer the question, “Now that I’m a follower of Jesus, what should I do?” Our study provides the first two (of eight) answers to that question: 1. Get Baptized (Acts 2) 2. Join a Local Church (2 Cor. 12, Eph. 4) In general, this sermon series may seem a bit like returning to elementary school, as we consider foundational spiritual disciplines in each message. What may feel new is an emphasis on applying each basic principle in the context of the local church. In short, we hope to convince you that God intends for the Christian life to be lived within the community of a local church.
