Part Two: Prioritizing

Introduction: This week’s message is the second in a four-part series on Moving Forward. Our key word for this study is Prioritize.

In this study, we consider Christ’s teaching on the greatest commandments to reveal what our highest priority should be: loving God and loving others. The rest of the message helps us think carefully about whether these priorities (loving God and loving others) are just our stated priorities or are our actual priorities.

Part Four: Mobilize

This week, we focus on mobilizing for ministry and consider the idea of preparing our minds for action from 1 Peter 1:13. Here are five keys to mobilizing for ministry that we find in this passage, among others: • Pray for the spread of the gospel until it becomes a deep passion (Eph 6:19; Col 4:3; 2 Thes 3:1) • Get serious about repenting of patterns of sin in your life (Heb. 13:1) • Make your relationship to God and your commitment to the church immovable entities in your life. (Heb. 10:19-25) • View every relationship in your life through the lens of evangelism and discipleship. (John 15:16) • Choose the direction of your life as a subset of the great commission. (Phil 1:20)

Part Three: Sacrifice

This Sunday’s message is the third in a four-part series on Moving Forward. Our key word for this week is Sacrifice. From our study, we can identify three sacrifices that Jesus requires from true disciples: 1. To be a disciple, God must take first place over every relationship. 2. To be a disciple, the mission of Jesus must outweigh my plans for my life. 3. To be a disciple, I must crucify my will. The Big Idea of the message is that God is looking for true disciples who are willing to sacrifice everything to follow him.
