This week, James, the step-brother of Jesus, reminds us that salvation is by faith alone, and true faith displays itself by works.
Here are some ways you can show your faith this week:
ACTIVITY 1: Read the Book of James with your family.
ACTIVITY 2: Make a balloon self-portrait. Give a child a balloon and a marker. Instruct each child to inflate their balloon and then draw a picture of themselves on the balloon. Consider inflating the balloons for younger kids.
(Parents, explain to your children, "Was it difficult to draw a picture of yourself without a mirror? Even if you haven't looked in a mirror in a while, you probably still remembered what you look like. James says that reading God's Word and not doing it is the same as looking in a mirror and forgetting what you looked like. It shouldn't happen! And, just as we look in a mirror daily to see how we are changing, when we spend time reading God's Word daily, we will be able to see how the Holy Spirit is changing us to obey God. We cannot earn salvation with good works, but James said faith without works is useless.")

This week, we are reminded that the Holy Spirit changes us to be more like Jesus to the glory of God the Father. We also discuss the initial change God does in our heart at salvation (i.e., justification) and the ongoing work of the Spirit (i.e., sanctification). Next week is our last video. We invite you to join us at Calvary Baptist on Sundays at 10:00 AM for Children's Church.
