Day 123 - Read 1 John 1-3

April 4, 2024 • 1 John 1—3

John experienced Jesus in the flesh. Life is given through Christ, and He is the light of men. All sin and are in need of the Son to cleanse us of our sins. If we walk in darkness, we do not know Jesus and have not experienced His forgiveness. Jesus is our advocate with the Father. If we know Jesus, we will keep His commandments and walk as He walked. Abide in God and do not be controlled by the desires of the flesh. Do not allow false teachers and antichrists lead you away from truth. The righteous abide in Him, but the one who practices sin is of the devil. Believe in the Son Jesus Christ and love one another as He loved us and gave Himself for us. If we do not love our brother and obey the Lord’s commands, we are not of God.

Joseph sent everyone away except his brothers, and he told them who he was. Joseph told his brothers not to be upset at themselves because it was God’s will that he be taken to Egypt to preserve their lives. Pharaoh promised them all they needed in the land of Egypt, and they were given the necessary supplies to travel to Canaan to get their father and return to Egypt.

Joseph required one brother to stay and the others to return with Benjamin. Benjamin was Joseph’s only full brother (sons of Jacob and Rachel). Joseph gave them grain, but had the money placed back in their bags to test them. When they returned home, their father feared sending them back with Benjamin, but he eventually agreed. When they returned to Egypt, Joseph sent them to his home where he had a meal prepared. They explained they found the money in their bags. Joseph comforted them and provided them with the meal. Benjamin received five times the food as his brothers.

Two years later, Pharaoh had two dreams that no one could interpret. The cupbearer remembered Joseph, then Joseph interpreted the dream for Pharaoh. God warned Pharaoh of seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine. Pharaoh put Joseph in charge, and he successfully prepared Egypt for the famine.
