Day 86 - Read Numbers 33-34

July 18, 2024 • Numbers 33—34

Moses documented and recounted the stages of Israel’s journey from captivity in Egypt to the promised land. God commanded Israel to drive out all people from the land He promised. God warned that if anyone was not driven out of the land, and all monuments to other gods were not destroyed, He would do to Israel as He thought to do to Israel’s enemy. God outlined the land and its boarders for Israel to divide according to the nine and a half remaining tribes that did not claim land east of the Jordan. God chose Eleazar the priest, and Joshua to divide the land. God designated a chief for each tribe to divide each tribe’s land among its people.

Day 95 - Read Deuteronomy 15-16

July 27, 2024 • Deuteronomy 15—16

God gave laws concerning the Sabbatical Year, a time when debts would be forgiven. Israel was told to trust God, and He would provide for them as long as they served Him and obeyed His commands. Moses continued to remind the children of the adult generation that left Egypt to obey the commands of God and remember His provisions. Israel was to continue to observe Passover, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Booths. Justice should be followed, and worship should remain pure and undefiled. Idols were not to be worshiped by God’s people.

Day 94 - Read Deuteronomy 13-14

July 26, 2024 • Deuteronomy 13—14

Israel was warned that false prophets would attempt to lead them away from God to worship unknown gods. Anyone who attempted to draw the people of Israel from God were to be destroyed along with their possessions. God instructed His people on clean and unclean food. He instructed His people to tithe, taking the offering to the place of worship designated by God. They were to present their offering, eat according to God’s Law, and providing the required portion of the tithe to the Levites who served God’s place of worship.

Day 93 - Read Deuteronomy 11-12

July 25, 2024 • Deuteronomy 11—12

Moses charged Israel to obey God and remember the great things He did in Egypt and on their journey to the promised land. Moses described the promised land as a good land that would provide for the needs of Israel. He charged them to share the goodness of God with their children at all times and to teach them to hold fast to God’s Law, and they would be blessed. If they chose to turn from God, they would be cursed. Israel was instructed to seek the place to worship God once they possessed the land. They were to destroy the idols and altars built by their enemies for the worship of their gods. Israel was commanded to worship God alone, according to God’s instructions alone.
