Day 127 - Revelation 3-5

April 9, 2024 • Revelation 3—5

John continued the message to the seven churches in Asia. These churches were not unlike many churches today that were determined to follow Christ but allowed themselves to drift in direction and focus. The church must protect from the dangers of turning away from God and His purpose for the church. John described his vision of heaven in chapters 4 and 5. John saw a vision of God on His throne, and every creature worshipped Him. Jesus was presented as the One who was sacrificed, but conquered death to free everyone who would trust in Him for eternal life from death and eternal punishment. No one else could do what Jesus did through His sacrifice.

Day 15 - Read Genesis 25-26

May 8, 2024 • Genesis 25—26

Abraham gave all he had to Isaac. Isaac and Rebekah had twins named Esau and Jacob. Isaac loved Esau and Rebekah loved Jacob. Esau was a hunter and Jacob was a quiet man who dwelled in tents. Esau sold his birthright to Jacob for food. He did not value his birthright which included the blessings of his father. Isaac settled in Gerar. He told the people that Rebekah was his sister for fear they would kill him and take her. She was a beautiful woman. Abimelech, king of the Philistines, discovered Rebekah was Isaac’s wife. He confronted Isaac, then issued a warning that they were not to be harmed. God blessed Isaac and made him a powerful man. Abimelech sent him away and later made a covenant with him to insure peace between them.

Day 14 - Read Genesis 24

May 7, 2024 • Genesis 24

Abraham wanted Isaac to have a wife from his people. He charged his servant to bring a bride for Isaac from his kinsmen. Isaac was not to leave the land God gave Abraham to find a wife. His servant went to the city of Nahor and waited by the well for women to draw water in the evening. The servant prayed for God to give him success in his search. Before he finished praying, Rebekah went to the well. He asked her for a drink. She responded as requested and provided water to his camels. She took him to her home, then he asked permission to take her to Isaac, and the family agreed. The servant and his men stayed the night before returning with Rebekah. Isaac took Rebekah as his wife and was comforted.

Day 13 Read Genesis 22-23

May 6, 2024 • Genesis 22—23

God tested Abraham by telling him to prepare his son Isaac as a sacrifice. Abraham followed God’s command and prepared the sacrifice. Abraham trusted God, even when he did not understand God’s plan. God waited till everything was in place for the sacrifice and provided a ram in place of Isaac. God blessed Abraham because of his faithfulness. Sarah died at the age of 127 at Hebron, in Canaan. The Hittites offered Abraham a place of his choice to bury Sarah. Abraham chose land owned by Ephron and offered to buy the land at its value. Ephron offered the land to Abraham as a gift, but Abraham insisted on purchasing the land. He gave Ephron 400 shekels of silver and possessed the land to bury Sarah.
