Day 199 - Read 2 Chronicles 7-9

November 8, 2024 • 2 Chronicles 7—9

When Solomon finished his prayer, fire came from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and sacrifices. The glory of the Lord filled the temple. The people of Israel worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord. Solomon offered sacrifices and held a feast for seven days. The Lord told Solomon that He would forgive their sin and heal their land if they would pray and seek His face and turn from their wicked ways. Solomon built as he willed and accomplished great things. He honored the feasts according to the commands of the Lord. The queen of Sheba tested Solomon and found him to have great wisdom. His wealth was unmatched. Solomon reigned for forty years and died. His son Rehoboam reigned in his place.

Day 198 - Read 2 Chronicles 4-6

November 7, 2024 • 2 Chronicles 4—6

The altar, the basins (referred to as “seas”), the tables, the lamp stands, and all of the furnishings of the temple were made according to God’s command. The ark was taken to the Most Holy Place. The tablets of the covenant God made with Israel remained in the ark. The musicians and singers worshipped God. The priests were not able to minister because the glory of the Lord filled the house with a cloud. Solomon blessed Israel and reminded them of God’s fulfillment of his promises to David and to Israel. Solomon kneeled on a platform in the presence of the people and prayed. He praised God and asked Him to remain with His people and forgive and bless them as they repented (turned) from their sin.

Day 197 - Read 2 Chronicles 1-3

November 6, 2024 • 2 Chronicles 1—3

Solomon was blessed by God. He went to the altar that was built by Bezalel before the tabernacle of the Lord and offered a thousand burnt offerings. God appeared to Solomon and Solomon asked God for wisdom to govern God’s people. God gave him wisdom, but he also chose to give him riches, possessions, and honor beyond any king before or after him. Hiram, the king of Tyre provided a skilled man to Solomon to help him gather all that was needed to build a temple for the Lord. Solomon began to build the temple at the place David appointed. The measurements and furnishings of the temple were to the specifications given by the Lord.

Day 196 - Read 1 Chronicles 27-29

November 5, 2024 • 1 Chronicles 27—29

Chapter twenty-seven gives an account of the military assignments and divisions. Leaders were assigned over the tribes and given responsibilities for managing the property and possessions of Israel and of the king. David charged Israel to follow the commands of God. He reminded them God chose Solomon to build the temple and rule in his place. David challenged Solomon to seek God and follow His commands. He told Solomon to be strong because God would not leave or forsake him. David and the people of Israel gave whole heartedly to the treasury for the temple. David prayed for Israel, and he honored God. Offerings and sacrifices were given to God. David’s reign over Israel was forty years. He died, and Solomon reigned in his place.
