Jesus wasn't a casual timid person who shied away from declaring truth. He gave tremendous grace and truth from the position of love in all He did and said. His love is not only measured through His forgiveness, but also through His discipline in showing us how to live as He lived. When He is tough on the disciples, they do not consider it offensive because they were following from a position of love for God. The Pharisees took what Jesus said as offensive, because their hearts were far from God. When we follow Jesus out of love, His truth grows us more into His likeness.
