Part 1 | Paul at Mars Hill – Mission in Our Secular World
August 3, 2024 • Pr. Marcos Torres • Acts 17:22–23
Paul's encounter at Mars Hill in Athens is a remarkable example of engaging with different beliefs and philosophies. The apostle Paul, known for his wisdom and courage, stood before the scholars and sages of Athens, compellingly presenting the message of Christ. Despite his audience's scepticism and diverse beliefs, Paul fearlessly proclaimed the truth.
In Acts 17:22-23 (NKJV), we read about this encounter: "Then Paul stood in the Areopagus and said, 'Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you.'"
Paul's speech on Mars Hill is a powerful example of engaging with different worldviews while staying true to the Gospel message. It reminds us to approach others with respect and wisdom, sharing the love of Christ in a way that resonates with their hearts and minds.
