In the Lord's Sermon on the Mount, he said, “Judge not, that you be not judged,” (Matt. 7:1). It is a statement that is cited often when confronting someone over sin. But if ever there was a verse in the Bible that has been bastardized and abused—by both unbeliever and believer alike—this is it. But understanding the proper rules and principles of biblical interpretation will safeguard against misquoting Jesus and what he intended to say.
