By being good and doing good, as God Himself is good, it should expose the ignorance of those who foolishly make bogus charges against Christianity. There’s more to being a believer than carrying a name. An authentic Christian ought to look and behave like the Christ they serve. The Holy Spirit isn't in our life just to hang out, or to do a miracle for sport, or to entertain us with His supernatural magic tricks. His purpose is to conform us into the image of Christ where we are empowered to walk as Jesus did and behave as he behaved. This is called progressive sanctification or the pursuit of godliness. 04 - God's Will: Be God-Filled

The Holy Spirit is given to make the Christian life experiential. The Christian life is meant to be an experience, not just a religion, and it is the Holy Spirit that makes it so. He makes Jesus real to us, and not just some sort of historical figure. He makes God perceptible to us, not just some sort of abstract idea. He makes the Christian life victorious and winsome, rather than an exercise of drudgery. And He does this by indwelling us and empowering us. Thus, it is God's will that we be Spirit-filled.
