One would expect that after Jesus exorcised a demoniac in Gersa who had been terrorizing the town of endlessly and haunting the villagers relentlessly that a revival of gratitude and praise would have broken out among the residents. Instead, the residents responded fearfully, perhaps understandably so, leading to their rejection of Jesus and his expulsion from the land. First the Gerasenes had banished the demoniac. Now they had thanklessly banished his deliverer. It's one of the worst pictures of ingratitude in all of the Bible, for which Christians must take heed.
