Is Jesus the only way to Heaven? In our modern culture especially, this question can often feel pretty heavy. Jesus' exact words in John 14:6 spell out the answer to that question in no uncertain terms: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." It's worth taking a moment to process exactly what He means, why He made such an exclusive statement, and the implications of that on our regular lives. What we discover is a God of radical love who wants to be known by all people and who welcomes all into His family through Christ's sacrifice. Jesus' way, while appearing exclusive, turns out to be an exclusively inclusive offer of radical grace and acceptance after all.
Questions for Reflection:
• Why does it often feel so bad when we read that Jesus says He is the only way to God? Why does that bother us?
• What do we discover about God's heart for people from this message?
