Circumstances: When the generation of Israelites that Moses led out of Egypt were condemned to die in the wilderness for their rejection and rebellion against God (see Numbers 14)
Division:
Verses 1-11 - Moses’s contemplation of the frailty of human life compared to God’s infinitude and this due to God’s judgement and wrath toward our sin
Verses 12-17 - Moses’s prayer for God’s grace and mercy to give Israel wisdom and joy
Be comforted with the knowledge that God is Infinite - vv 1-4 - Slide 2
Especially not bound by time
Weep and mourn over our sin and its effects on our lives - vv 5-11 - Slide 3
Sins presence and effect on the world
Our love for the things of the world due to the effects of sin on our nature
Pray earnestly for God’s, love, wisdom and joy to be what our lives are built upon - vv 12-17 - Slide 4
