We all face overwhelming situations in our lives that threaten to steal away our hope—sickness, conflict, finances, the loss of a loved one—the list goes on and on. Yet when the future looks dark or all seems lost, it’s time to reflect on Bible verses about hope in hard times.

1. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. —Romans 15:13
