Jane Graham on Life, Faith, Motherhood and Family

September 21, 2021 • Cissie Graham Lynch, Jane Graham

Welcome to FEARLESS! This episode is one that I’ve been wanting to capture for a long time. My special guest this week is one of the greatest influences in my life, someone who I want everyone to know, and that’s my mom, Jane Graham.

Over the years, so many people have asked questions about my mom. Though she’s Franklin Graham’s wife and Billy Graham’s daughter-in-law, my mother isn’t really one for the spotlight.

Her ministry has always been more private and behind the scenes, taking care of our family and serving those around her in our community.

I’m so excited that I get to share a little bit of her with you this week. We’re going to talk about her early life, how she met my dad in Montreat, NC, the influence of my grandmother Ruth Bell Graham, her faith, being in ministry and the challenges and joys of motherhood and marriage.

I hope that you’re inspired and encouraged as you listen my conversation with my mom. It’s an episode that you’re not going to want to miss.

The Lies of I’s—When “I Want” Becomes “I Need”

Cissie Graham Lynch

How often do you find yourself saying, “I need;” confusing a want or desire with something that really is not essential? We live in a world that’s both consumed and fed by the social media algorithm showing all the beautiful things others have and places they go. It makes us think: I need new shoes. I need caffeine. I need to make more money. So, what happens when we don’t find contentment in what we have? What happens when our dissatisfaction grows?   Listen to the latest episode of the #FearlessPodcast where I look at the dangerous “Lies of I’s”—I Need—and a challenge of three practical ways we can practice contentment.   For more resources and additional episodes visit https://cissiegrahamlynch.com.

The Lies of I’s—Do I believe the lie that “I Am Enough?”

Cissie Graham Lynch

“I Am Enough.” This “Lies of I’s” is one that we see everywhere—on t-shirts, coffee cups, and it’s even the title of a children’s book. It’s meant as an encouragement – especially in this world of comparison. But what really happens when we follow this advice and rely solely on ourselves? And, how can we teach our children to find strength through faith instead of how the world defines?   Listen to the latest episode of the #FearlessPodcast where I look at the dangerous “Lies of I’s”—I Am Enough—and where our strength should ultimately come from.   For more resources and additional episodes visit https://cissiegrahamlynch.com.

The Lies of I’s—Turn “I Deserve” into “How to Serve”

Cissie Graham Lynch

How often do you hear yourself saying “I”? I want. I need. I wish. We have these “Lies of I’s” – lies we tell ourselves that culture tells us are a truth. My husband I were having a discussion the other day and I heard myself saying, “I deserve.” That’s a phrase I don’t even let my kids use, and here I was disagreeing with Corey saying, “I deserve better.” We seem to live in a world and society that is full of entitlement. We have the participation trophy generation that was always told they couldn’t lose and the social media natives that are constantly comparing people’s perfectly curated lives to their own. How do we teach our kids to overcome this attitude and that life isn’t always fair? Listen to the latest episode of the #FearlessPodcast where I look at the root of the problem and 4 ways we can have conversations with our children about serving and not deserving.   For more resources and additional episodes visit https://cissiegrahamlynch.com.
