The anatomy of a disciple:


i) a true disciple CONTINUES IN THE WORD

"Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye CONTINUE IN MY WORD, then are ye my disciples indeed"

ii) a true disciple STUDIES THE WORD

"STUDY to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the WORD of truth"

- 2 Timothy 2:15


iii) a true disciple is a DOER of the word

"But be ye DOERS of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a DOER, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and CONTINUETH therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a DOER of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed."

iv) a true disciple has LOVE for others

" A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that YE ARE MY DISCIPLES, if ye have LOVE one to another."

v) a true disciple PRODUCES FRUIT

"Herein is my Father glorified, that ye BEAR MY FRUIT; so shall ye be my DISCIPLES"

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."
