As the Israelites stood on the opposite side of the Red Sea, they stopped and worshipped their Lord through song for all that He had done in securing their salvation. Today, we have many reasons to sing as well!
God wrote the Law to teach the Israelite people how they are to live. In the New Covenant today, the law can reveal to us our sin, encourage Christ-like obedience, and reveal God's heart for his people.
