Vs 4 & 5 go hand-in-hand for teaching us how to work.
Vs 4 talks about HOW you work - with diligence.
We are to be actively moving forward every day in every area - physical, emotional, mental, spiritual.
Vs 5 talks about WHEN we work - there is a time for everything.
We know when to work and when to rest.
When you're moving forward in all areas you'll know when to do both.
20 Mile March - two groups on a trip to the South Pole (1,400 miles).
One reached the goal two months before the other, 360 miles ahead.
What was the difference?
Two main things:
1) Preparations (vs 4) - the first group planned for the best and prepared for the worst.
They didn't rely on others (supply depots).
The other group prepared lean and relied on the supply depots.
2) Pace (vs 5) - the first group paced themselves to slowly and methodically move 15-20 miles a day, never more, never less.
On the good days they held back / On the bad days they pushed forward.
They did not allow their environment to determine their effort.
The second group hit it hard on the good days and relaxed on the bad days.
They pushed themselves to exhaustion.
