Light of the World

In the Gospel of John, there is a cosmic battle taking place between light and darkness. Light and life is at war with death and darkness. Into this pitched battle Jesus Christ steps forward and declares, “I am the light of the world.” The war still rages today. We live in a dark place. But in this dark world the light of Christ still shines.

The Gentleness of Jesus

The story of Jesus and the adulterous woman is one of the most beloved stories in all the Bible. We love the way Jesus put the religious guys in their place, and the way he embraced the woman with compassion. If you were reading the story for the very first time it would be a surprising turn of events. The story does raise an important question for us, however.
