Becoming More Like Jesus: Reproducing

November 19, 2023 • Greg St. Cyr • 1 Corinthians 11:1, 2 Timothy 2:2

This Sunday we wrap up our nine-week series on Becoming More Like Jesus. As a church we are on a journey to grow as disciples of Christ. This week we look at our final essential: Discipleship is Reproducing. The greatest legacy you and I can leave is the investments we’ve made helping others become disciples of Jesus. All of us want to leave a legacy that outlives us. Being used by God to pour into others is the most powerful legacy anyone can leave. Join us this Sunday as we continue our journey of becoming more like Jesus!

Becoming More Like Jesus: Evangelistic

November 12, 2023 • Greg St. Cyr • Luke 19:10, John 20:21

A disciple follows Jesus, is being changed by Jesus, and is on mission with Jesus. As we continue our series Becoming More Like Jesus, this Sunday we shift into living on mission with Jesus. Discipleship is not just about our personal growth. It’s about helping others come to know Jesus and become more like Him. Discipleship must always be in movement to the world. Jesus came to seek and to save the lost. That was each of us. And now He sends us out to share the greatest news of all time with others. Join us this Sunday as we gain His heart for the lost and see our role in sharing the gospel.

Becoming More Like Jesus: Costly

November 5, 2023 • Aaron Hixson • Luke 14

Many of us were drawn to Christ based on the promise of a blessed, abundant life that would far exceed anything that we could ask or imagine - and then we actually found out what following Jesus would require, and it felt like a bait and switch. Too often, we off-road when we think that discipleship is intended to make our life better, or to make us better at life. Join us this Sunday as we discover that the calling of Christ on our life is inevitably costly.

Becoming More Like Jesus: Relational

Becoming More Like Jesus: Prayerful

October 22, 2023 • Greg St. Cyr • John 15:4–7

We’ve been talking about the “essentials” of discipleship. An “essential” is something absolutely necessary, crucial, indispensable. This Sunday we look at the essential of prayer. Let me share with you a concept that few people grasp. There is a difference between “union” and “communion.” The moment you place your faith in Jesus for salvation, you become spiritually united with Christ. In other words, positionally speaking, you and I are placed into the body of Christ and one with Him. That is mind-boggling. But…just because we have “union” with Jesus, that doesn’t mean we are becoming more like Him in our everyday life. And for many of us, we’ve been off-roading in the area of prayer. Without prayer, there is no “communion” with Jesus. Join us this week as we explore what it looks like to commune with God through prayer.

Becoming More Like Jesus: Word-Centered

October 15, 2023 • Aaron Hixson • Psalm 1

Does anyone else despise the phrase, "You are what you eat"? I know I do - mostly because I don't like what that implies about my eating habits! But the truth is, we'll rarely rise above what we most consume: and I'm not talking about food anymore. The process of becoming morel like Jesus is one that is shaped by God's Word. The more we understand that, the less off roading we'll do. Join us as we overview the next essential of discipleship.

Becoming More Like Jesus: Spirit-Led

October 8, 2023 • Greg St. Cyr • John 7:37–39

You might be thinking, “Okay, Greg - Aaron talked about how discipleship is holistic. Last week you said discipleship is intentional. That’s just two of the nine and I’m already feeling overwhelmed!” I imagine that’s how many might feel. Is being a disciple mainly about doubling down to “will” our way into these essentials? Absolutely not! This week we will discover the power available to us to become more like Jesus. It’s not will power. It’s not our own performance. The power for change comes through the indwelling Spirit who is like a river of living water inside us. Of all nine, in my opinion, this one is the key to becoming more like Jesus. I’m looking forward to this Sunday as we see how discipleship is Spirit-led.

Becoming More Like Jesus: Intentional

October 1, 2023 • Greg St. Cyr • Matthew 4:17–22

As a church, we are looking at the “way” of becoming more like Jesus. Said another way, we are becoming His disciples. This quote by Dallas Willard is convicting: “The problem of spiritual transformation among those who identify themselves as Christians today is not that it is impossible or that effectual means are not available. The problem is that it is not intended. People do not see it and its value and decide to carry through with it. They do not decide to do the things Jesus did and said.” We are intentional about so many things: Planning for a vacation, retirement, a career path, a wedding, parenting children, financial goals. Why is it that we lack intentionality when it comes to the most important thing in all of life – becoming like Jesus? Join us this Sunday as we explore the importance of being intentional as followers of Jesus.

Becoming More Like Jesus: Holistic

September 24, 2023 • Aaron Hixson • Matthew 4:19

The process of becoming more like Jesus is holistic - there's no part of our lives, personalities, activities or habits that is untouched by the all-encompassing transformation process. However, it's easy to ignore (or forget) this reality, and when we do, the results can be disastrous. Join us this weekend as we outline the first of our 9 discipleship essentials and hopefully together we can all become more like Jesus!
