This week we wrap our series on the Spirit-led life. We’ve been focusing on how to experience the Spirit’s presence. The Spirit-led life is NOT striving to get better or trying harder or working to suppress sin. It’s actually the opposite. The Spirit-led life IS surrendering to the Spirit, depending on the Spirit, being influenced by the Spirit. In a single word, to be Spirit-filled is to “abide.” And it is the abiding life that bears fruit. Those who take the posture of a branch cease their striving and bear much fruit. Join us this Sunday as you learn the blessing of “branch life.”
The Spirit-Filled Life
October 13, 2024 • Greg St. Cyr • Ephesians 5:18, Galatians 5:16
Why is it that so many believers have misplaced love, security and significance? It is because we are not walking by the Spirit. Why is it that I’ve heard so many say in frustration, “My Christian life just doesn’t work?” It is because we are not filled with God’s Spirit. But what does it even mean to be filled with the Spirit? And how does someone actually walk by the Spirit? This Sunday, I look forward to sharing with you the thing that has probably had the biggest impact on my spiritual life.
The Flesh
October 6, 2024 • Greg St. Cyr • Romans 8:5–6, Romans 6:6–7
When it comes to seeking after a Spirit-Led life, we too often skip over the fact that there is a hurdle in our hearts we need to clear first: our flesh. Our own sin nature is CONTRARY to the Spirit and wants to sabotage the work of God in our hearts. But how powerful is this flesh? Can we possibly overcome it? Is this any hope, or should we accept defeat? This Sunday we'll discuss what the Bible says about our old self and how to make sure it doesn't prevent the work of the Spirit.
His Presence
September 29, 2024 • Greg St. Cyr • 1 Corinthians 3:16
There is something powerful about “presence.” Phone calls are great. Text messages can communicate we’re thinking of someone. But there is nothing like the presence of a loved one. When you feel you can’t go on, the presence of a friend changes everything. Loneliness is overcome by the presence of a another. Even a great success can be a place of isolation if there is no one present to celebrate. The truth is that as a believer in Jesus you are never alone. The Spirit’s presence is with you always. That reality should change everything. Yet sadly for most, it doesn’t. Join us this Sunday as we discover how to experience the Spirit’s presence in our lives.
To Your Advantage
September 22, 2024 • Aaron Hixson • John 16:7
When I think about becoming more like Jesus, I occasionally think, "Man, it'd be nice if Jesus were still around and we could just WATCH him do his thing - that'd be so much easier." But as it turns out, Jesus told his disciples it'd be BETTER if he LEFT. As crazy as that sounds, we'll be exploring why he was right as we study the Holy Spirit and his role in our discipleship journey.
