Ministry Origins: Biblical Authority

January 28, 2024 • Greg St. Cyr • Luke 4:32–41

This Sunday I look forward to sharing with you something Jesus models that, if applied, will absolutely change you. It will give you peace and freedom, and make you a better citizen, boss, employee, family member, church member, and more. It will enable you to fulfill God’s purpose for your life and to experience His power. It’s a subject that we tend to have a negative view about and don’t hear many sermons on. Yet it is something that Jesus perfectly modeled. What is it? Join us at 9 or 11 a.m. to find out as we continue to learn what Jesus was like so we can be more like Him.

Ministry Origins: There's No Place Like Home

January 21, 2024 • Aaron Hixson • Luke 4:14–30

You can tell a lot about a person based on where they're from. If they call carbonated beverages "soda" and they love Wawa, chances are they aren't from Texas (or Ohio, Atlanta, Maine or California for that matter). But does someone's hometown tell you all you need to know? This Sunday we'll find out what Jesus' hometown was AND we'll find out how things went when he went home to preach - sometimes those who know you best are the hardest to convince.

Ministry Origins: Who Is This Guy?

January 14, 2024 • Aaron Hixson • Luke 3:1—4:12

Have you ever had someone walk into a situation and starting giving orders - but there's no reason to think they should be in charge? The question, Who died and made you King? comes to mind. As Luke is starting off his biography, it's important that he establishes Jesus' credibility as the Messiah, otherwise Theophilus (or anybody today) might be saying, "Who is this Guy?" about Jesus - a seemingly normal blue collar worker from a backwards town.

Ministry Origins: Prologue

Aaron Hixson • Luke 1:1–4

There are two kinds of people in the world - those that read the author's introduction carefully, and those that skip to the last chapter to know how the story ends! This week, we're gonna be the former: we're going to set the scene for our exploration of Luke's authorized biography of Jesus of Nazareth and find out how important it is for us to know what Jesus is like if intend to be like Him!
