Out of Context
Matthew 7

Do you think the worst of others? Speak to others of their faults? Judge an entire life only by its worst moments? Judge the hidden motives of others? Judge others without considering ourselves in their same circumstances? Judge others without being mindful that we ourselves will be judged? Come along and see how Matthew 7 is often taken out of context when it reads, "judge not, that you be not judged."

The purpose of Jeremiah was to declare God's judgement upon His people and call them to repentance and spiritual restoration through the Gospel. This passage shows us how we have a part in our relationship with God. Does your heart belong to God or something in the world? We must not be afraid to follow Jesus for He never has and never will go back on His promises. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
Philippians 4:13

Contentment happens in community. Do you find yourself surrounded by others who push and encourage you to be content? Paul writes a letter to the church while he is in prison and encourages them to be content. Don't be afraid or discouraged when someone in your godly community comes to you and corrects you in a godly manner. It is meant to build us up, push us toward growth, and thrive in the life that God has given us. Are you allowing discontentment to keep you from growing? Reflect on what your community is pushing you towards. Are they pushing you to think on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable? If so, think about such things and allow God to change the direction of your heart so you may be content in life in all circumstances.
