This lovely couple have lived in their home for over 40 years. This home has been passed down for several generations and is over 100 years old. The couple met as teenagers who lived just houses from each other. Even though they were a military family, the mountains were always their home.  The flood waters from Hurricane Helene rushed into their home, ripped up the wooden boards, and mold soon began to set in after the storm. It is unlivable. Their family was able to provide a small space for them to stay but it could not compare to having a place of their own.  Thanks to the generosity of our partners, we were able to provide them with an All-Seasons Camper to live in to remain safe and warm from the winter temperatures that are quickly approaching! Hurricane Helene Story

“Are you more afraid of heights than you are dying?” This is the question that his wife will never forget. This couple watched as the flood waters of Hurricane Helene came onto their porch, then through the vents, into their home. They witnessed the water come up each step of their home until it reached the second floor. They knew then it was time to get on the roof if they wanted to survive. They escaped out of the second story window and held onto a tree that had fallen on their home for dear life. The same tree that woke them up the morning of the storm by landing on the roof of their home. They held onto their two dogs and each other as the waters rose higher. They thought “This is the end.”  The damages to their home were too overwhelming in the aftermath of the Hurricane for his wife to bear. She still to this day has not been able to return to the home without the rush of emotions that come from remembering that day. But they are just thankful to have each other alive. This is just one story among thousands of others who have been displaced due to Hurricane Helene. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to gift this family temporary housing with an All-Seasons Camper! They were overjoyed and filled with gratitude to be able to have a sense of stability and safety again. We want to reach more families who have experienced devastation from Hurricane Helene. Four Families Receive Campers

“IT’S ALL GONE” Completely devastating. The news has moved on from covering Hurricane Helene but time has stood still for many in Western North Carolina. People have gone back to their day to day lives as usual. Meanwhile, more than 120,000 homes were affected by Hurricane Helene causing thousands of people to be displaced. With winter fast approaching, we knew we had to do something  Last weekend, thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to bless 4 families with All-Season campers for temporary housing! These families lost everything. Entire homes washed away in the flood waters. Precious memories gone forever. These campers will offer a sense of stability, comfort, and normalcy for these families.  “No one should be without a home”  These are words we do not take lightly. We want to provide temporary housing to all of those who are still displaced from Hurricane Helene. Local Teacher Receives Camper!

From Nashville to Asheville RVs for displaced families!

Karissa Covington  3:17 PM (1 minute ago) to me From Nashville to Asheville!! Today, with the help of some incredible partners, we were able to provide temporary housing for 4 families that were displaced by Hurricane Helene! We partnered with Buncombe County Schools to find teachers and staff who were in need of a home especially since they have returned to work. These four campers traveled all the way from Nashville, TN to Asheville, NC to provide housing for these Hurricane Helene survivors. This is necessary because of the fast approaching winter temperatures. We are working with incredible partners to see families who are displaced find a home that offers safety, warmth, and stability after the destruction we experienced just over a month ago.

Montreat College Students Volunteer!

A group of students from Montreat College and their teacher, Ms. Rachel, came to volunteer today! The 1st group met at warehouse to package up supplies for individual families. The second group took the packages and two pallets of water out to deliver to families! What an incredible day getting to serve our city during this time of devastation!

Ezekiel's Story

Meet Ezekiel. Ezekiel and his wife just moved into their brand new home a little over a month before Hurricane Helene hit Swannanoa, NC. They have two beautiful, young kids and an adorable dog. The family woke the morning of the storm with water flowing into their home. Luckily they made it up a hill to a neighbors property. When the water receded and they could make it back to their home, they saw warped floors, missing siding, water logged furniture, and a water line of 3 feet inside. They lost everything inside. We have been working with our Short Term Missions teams to clear out flooring, insulation, sheet rock and other damages due to water being in their home. We are doing demolition work to prepare for the rebuild phase of this relief effort! We want to see Ezekiel’s home and others like it rebuilt and restored!
