You Don’t Need A Bucket List

As we conclude the Gospel of Mark, we are taken to a place where we see the apex of humanity. The resurrected Jesus, who is the “firstfruits of the dead”, meaning we get to see OUR future. A future of love and hope, where sickness, disease and death is no more. So, if this is true, what does mean for our present life today?

Finding Life in a World of Death

Jesus dies. His followers are going to his tomb to put the finishing touches on the death of their hope. What they find is staggering. The grave is open and Jesus is gone. This scene leaves us asking what are our expectations about life and death? According to the Natl Institute of Mental Health says that 68% of us fear death, and we often live lives of perpetual anxiety. Is their more than YOLO? Is their more than just dying and going to heaven? Can we truly live resurrected lives starting now on earth as it is in heaven? Lives of resurrected power? Handling Indifference

In the Trial of Jesus before Pontius Pilate, we see a man who has a knowledge of who Jesus is, but through indifference and more interest in his self-preservation and advancement, he ignores and dismisses Jesus. We as humans, can be just like Pilate. How do we deal with the feelings of indifference that come our way?
