The account of Ruth's (and Naomi's) redemption gets off to a rocky start with their enduring the loss of loved ones, poverty, and desperation. Perhaps you know the feeling? But as they ploughed through that field of trouble together God was planting the seeds of his redemption.
Gathered
While it appeared that Naomi and Ruth had been all but forsaken by the Lord, he was still in control, guiding even the "chance happenings" in their lives for the purpose of his redeeming grace. Our God still guides our lives for our eternal good!
Redeemed
As Ruth and Naomi relied on the Lord's redeeming grace they did not know what the earthly outcome of their lives might be, and even after God had granted all their hopes and restored their dreams, they likely still couldn't know that they would be part of God's plan for bringing the great king David and the greatest King, Jesus, into the world. God has plans for us too--beyond what is seen, beyond our imagining!
