Giving to advance Kingdom work is a personal matter between the giver and God. The Corinthians were instructed by Paul to complete what they had started in providing financial assistance to the Saints in Jerusalem who were experiencing hardship. As the Corinthian Believers had abounded in faith, utterance, knowledge, and in all diligence, and love, they were encouraged to excel in the grace of giving also.

Although people's motivations, reasons, and attitudes while giving varies from person to person, all giving should be done to glorify God!

Grace and Unrepentance

Visions and dreams are key proofs of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. In this portion of Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, Paul speaks in the third person of a man who experienced visions and revelations that could not be talked about. All indications point to Paul being that person based on the thorn in the flesh given him and the sufficient grace to sustain him. There were real concerns that many of the Corinthians, due to the teachings of the false apostles that had deceived them, continued in sinful lifestyles indicating they had not repented of their sins.

False Apostles and False Brothers

Throughout the Law, the Prophets, the Writings of the Old Testament, and in New Testament writings, YeHoVaH’s people were warned against false witnesses, false reports, false balances, false prophets, false messiahs, and basically all things false. Falsehoods were deceptive practices designed to deceive and mislead. In this passage of 2nd Corinthians, Paul addresses false apostles, false brethren and makes comparisons to distinguish between their ministries and his ministry.

The Grace of Giving

The grace of God that brought salvation unto men brought Instructions on denying ungodliness and worldly lusts and on how to live righteously and godly in this present time. This grace of God also provided Instructions on the grace of giving which Paul emphasized in this portion of his letter to the Corinthian Assembly. Supporting the advancement of the Kingdom of God and the Brethren in need demonstrated the love for God and His compassion for each other. Paul instructed the Corinthians to complete what they had started in providing financial assistance to the Saints in Jerusalem who were experiencing hardship.
