Christmas Service 2015: Merry Christmas!

Isaiah 9:6-7

December 20, 2015 • Jeff Durbin

A NOTE FROM JEFF Christmas Service 2015: Merry Christmas! We love Christmas at Apologia Church! It isn't just the special time with family, the lights, the food, the music, or the presents. We love Christmas because it represents what became the turning point in the history of the world and redemption. God became a man to rescue us from our sin and to bring in His promised Kingdom. That is something worth celebrating every minute of every day; we're grateful to celebrate the birth of the Messiah with millions of Christians on this special time of year. We want to invite you to look through the festivities and the (dare I say it?) "magic" of Christmas and reflect upon the glory of Jesus the Messiah. God with us. God condescended to redeem sinners. God the King taking His place over the world and His people. Glory in the highest! Jeff Durbin Lead Pastor/Elder Sunday, December 20, 2015

Church Life: True, Saving Faith

January 17, 2016 • John Samson

A NOTE FROM LUKE Church Life: True, Saving Faith Jeff and I are so grateful for our dear friend Pastor John Samson, and are very thankful for his willingness to teach the church tonight while we are in Kauai. John had this to say about today’s message: “What is the nature of true saving faith? How can we tell genuine faith from the counterfeit?” Please make John we at home and pray for us as we return home. Soli Deo Gloria, Luke Pierson Discipleship Pastor/Elder Sunday, January 17, 2016 TODAY’S PASSAGE And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:1-10

Kingdom Vision

January 10, 2016 • Jeff Durbin

A NOTE FROM JEFF Kingdom Vision 2016 Before we dive deep into the next portion of the Sermon on the Mount, I wanted to take the opportunity at the beginning of the year to teach on some important truths from Scripture that we ought to keep as guardians of our lives. I also wanted to spend time speaking with our church community about what we are asking you to pray over as well as laying out some important Gospel-centered strategies we hope to keep at the forefront of our mission to the world. God has graciously given us another year to serve the Lord with joy and thanksgiving! We are humbled and honored to be doing it together with you! Soli Deo Gloria! Jeff Durbin Lead Pastor/Elder Sunday, January 10, 2016 TODAY’S PASSAGE for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place. And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:27-31

Resolved: To Live to the Glory of God

January 3, 2016 • Jeff Durbin

A NOTE FROM JEFF Resolved: To Live to the Glory of God As we face a new year together, I feel it is my duty to encourage and equip the body to face what is ahead with the glory of God at the forefront of our affections. We are called to live for delight in God as we seek His glory in all things. The Lord Jesus taught us to pray that God's will would be done on earth as it is in heaven. That's where the world is going. How do our lives intersect with that prayer? It is my prayer that the Lord would use the people of God at Apologia to bring the earth closer to the fulfillment of the Lord Jesus' petition in His prayer. No King but Christ!
