Made for More

Made to Grow

January 27, 2019 • Nate Akin

We Grow because He is not finished with us! God has called us to much more than salvation. We are to guard our hearts by remaining accountable to each other, encouraging one another to remain in the Gospel! Just as we are united in Christ, we must also be united in the mission of disciples making disciple-makers. Hebrews 3:7-14 Main Idea: We grow and persevere in the faith by receiving God's Word, heeding His warnings, and encouraging one another. I. Heed the Spirit’s Warning (3:7-11) II. Hold Firm and Grow in the Faith (3:12-14)

Made to Serve

We serve because we can make a difference! We can make a difference because of who Jesus is and the work He accomplished on the cross. We are equipped through the Holy Spirit to serve as Christ works in us, which results in His pleasure and glory. Hebrews 13:15-25 Main Idea: We have been saved in order to glorify God by loving Him (greatest commandment) and others (the other one like it) in word and deed! 3 Exhortations in pursuing this in our lives: I. Offer up sacrifices of praise and service (13:15-16) II. Pray for your leaders who will care for you and equip you to love God and neighbor (13:17-19) III. Look to Jesus who will equip you to do His Will (13:20-25)

Made to Worship

We Worship because God is worthy! Worship begins with an intimate relationship with Christ. Understanding the gift of salvation produces a heart of gratitude. Worship is a response to show who God is – a consuming fire. He purifies the believer and our response is reverence and awe. Hebrews 12:25-29 3 Questions to consider then about Worship: 1) What is true worship? “Worship is the believer’s response of all that they are – mind, emotions, will, body – to what God is and says and does” (Warren Wiersbe) 2) Why is He worthy of worship? (Hebrews 12:25-28a) Because of who He is and what He has done! 3) How do we worship Him? (Hebrews 12:28-29) With gratitude, reverence, and with all we are!
