Family Time with Angus

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

Holy Character

1 Peter 3:3

1 Peter 3:3. God tells us not to let our adornment to be merely outward but to spend more time on our inward appearance than our outward appearance. The beauty that the Lord is speaking about is from the inside, from a person who is selfless, and cares more about others, who has the Lord's peace in their hearts.

Forgiveness

Matthew 18:21–22

We have to forgive others no matter what, so that God can forgive us for our sins, and so that we ourselves can move on with our lives. Some of us even need to forgive God for something we fee that He has done for us. Unforgiveness will eat away at us. Matthew 18:21-22.

Guard your mind

2 Corinthians 10:4–5

2 Corinthians 10:4-5. Our battle in this world is in our minds, not our hearts. When we put on the armour of God, we put on the helmet of Salvation to guard our minds. Let's watch over and be sure to guard our minds and make sure we are speaking life.

Our Deliverer

Psalm 37:40, Psalm 20:7, Proverbs 3:5–6

Psalm 37:40. Whatever you are going through, the Lord will deliver you, if you allow Him to, If you will trust in Him. Psalm 20:7. Jesus Christ has never let us down, if we cry out for help, then He will help us. Proverbs 3:5-6. He is our Deliverer.

Faithful God

Matthew 6:33, Psalm 37:4, Romans 8:28

Psalm 37:4. George Muller is one of Uncle Angus' heroes, he looked after thousands of orphans in Bristol, England, without asking for a cent, God faithfully provided for every need because He is always faithful to His promises. Romans 8:28. Matthew 6:33.

First milk

1 Peter 2:2

1 Peter 2:2. The first milk for a calf is very important, it is full of antibodies from the mother, theses antibodies go into the calf and keep it protected from diseases until it is much older. There is not much chance of a calf surviving if it doesn't get this first milk. The Word of God is the same, we need that first milk every day.

Chosen

John 15:16

You may feel like God has forgotten you, but God has chosen you for a very specific task. John 15:16. God has called us to go and bare good fruit. Nothing is too hard for the Lord, and He knows our capacity and how much we can take.

Trials

James 1:2

If you are going through a hard time in your life, don't be concerned, give it to Jesus and keep going forward. James 1:2. The testing of our faith produces patience and is there to make us stronger. God is busy growing us, and working on our characters. Be encouraged.

The joy of the Lord

John 10:10, Mark 8:36, 1 Timothy 6:6, Nehemiah 8:10

Nehemiah 8:10. The Joy of the Lord is our strength, this is a deep knowing that Jesus is still in control. John 10:10. Jesus came so that we can have abundant life. God doesn't want us to exist, He wants us to truly live. We need to decide not to take the devil's nonsense but to live an abundant life trusting in God as His children. Mark 8:36. 1 Timothy 6:6.

Watch your tongue

1 Peter 3:10–12

1 Peter 3:10-12. We need to refrain from speaking evil and deceit. We need to seek peace and pursue it. Find out what God has to say about an issue, and speak life instead of speaking negatively. Our attitude determines our altitude.

Wait

Isaiah 40:31

Are you waiting on the Lord? Isaiah 40:31. We need to wait upon the Lord, find something we can do to just rest and relax and enjoy God's presence. We will not finish our race if we do not wait on the Lord and rest, so that God can refresh us.

The introducer

John 1:41

John 1:41. Uncle Angus talks about Andrew in the Bible. He introduced his brother Simon Peter, to the Messiah, Jesus Christ. It was a Eureka moment for them. Have you had a Eureka moment, where you realised Who Jesus really is in your life?

Chosen generation

1 Peter 2:9, John 15:16

1 Peter 2:9. We are a chosen generation, we are those called out of darkness and into the light. God chose us because He loves us, and we have responded to Him. John 15:16. We were created in God's image. Thank You Lord for salvation.

God's counsel

Isaiah 30:1–3

Who are we taking counsel from? The world or from Jesus and the Bible. Isaiah 30:1-3. Some people are making mistake after mistake and they need to stop, listen to the Lord, and start doing things His way.

Who is directing your steps?

Jeremiah 10:23, Psalm 27:11

Who is directing your steps? Jeremiah 10:23. A man's life is not his own. Are you in charge of your own life or is God in charge of your life? Psalm 27:11. We need to submissively follow where He leads us.
